His fight with Judah was no that heavily publicized. If it were we would have seen ESPN cover it. They only promoted it in the east coast from what I heard.

Do you know what was offerred to Miguel?
It did not do 225K. That number was a bull**** number thrown out by Arum. It did less. Notice that HBO didn't do their usual press release on the PPV buys for that fight.

Yes, the Garden was nearly sold out. But the gate can't support a huge fight. For example, 20,000 seats at $100/ticket is 2 million dollars. Understand?

Don't blame "The World Awaits" for Cotto's numbers. Everyone expected Hopkins-Winky to be a boring fight. It did 305K buys. Again, Miguel's name doesn't resonate yet outside of a) the Northeast and b) outside of hardcore boxing fans.

Even though Arum and I share an alma mater, I don't trust him. But he knows how to build a mega-fighter. Cotto needs to trust that.

Miguel did 100K for the Malignaggi PPV and 180K for a highly marketed Judah PPV. The PM fight is excusable. It was on the same night as Hopkins-Tarver and it wasn't supported by HBO.

But the Judah fight was a real disappointment. That fight got the Countdown treatment, HBO backed it, and it didn't sell **** outside of the Northeast.

So, Arum is being cautious. And asking Miguel to share the risk.
that's probably the reason since bob aint afraid to shell out 5 mil plus PPV and the philippine rights to pac. there's more financial risk in a cotto fight.

No doubt. Pac has shown that he can sell a fight.

You can only offer your fighter a guarantee based on his prior sales performance.

That is why all of the "boxing experts" on here who were wetting their panties last year by claiming that PBF was "ducking Margarito" by refusing Arum's $8MM "offer" were so misguided. Arum was "offering" Floyd the money from Floyd's own pocket. PBF knew that he can make that in any fight. All Arum was doing was trying to cut himself and his fighter in on Floyd's deal.

Margarito has not sold ****. How can he "offer" someone else $8 million when his OWN biggest payday is $1.2 million?

This is true, it didn't get the HBO push as much as past PPV's. Sure, it got a count down but that was about it. HBO didn't even bother putting much about it on their site.

And it was very close to the DLH Mayweather fight and a lot of people felt cheating with that PPV.

ESPN did cover the fight. But remember, ESPN (DISNEY) and HBO (Time WARNER) are competitors. Not business partners. Still, don't you remember that Migs was on FNF in-studio? Friday Night Fights is a national broadcast that connects with the boxing fan.

HBO broadcasts nationally. The "Countdown" was available to all. The problem is the way that they have brought Miguel along.

First, Migs has zero personality. He talks like a ****in' robot. Even though Felix Trinidad didn't speak english, he has tons of charisma.

Second, they keep re-hashing Miguel in NYC every June for the PR day parade. First Abdullaev, then Malignaggi, then JUdah. By contrast, when they were grooming PBF, they exposed him to different geographies: Bruseles in Miami, Sharmba in Portland, fights in Grand Rapids, etc. You must make your fighter a national fighter. Cotto is in danger of becoming Gatti. Arturo has his 'home stadium' at Boardwalk hall. MSG is becoming that for Cotto. But Arturo only makes about 2 mil per fight.

Thirdly, they haven't drank the HBO Kool-Aid. HBO told Arum to move the Malignaggi date, and he didn't. He competed against their show. You can't bite the hand that feeds you. Then, he moved the Quintana fight to Showtime. SHO does a good broadcast, but Showtime has about 30% of the subscribers as HBO. You gotta show HBO some loyalty, so Ross Greenburg can show you some back. Would you trust a chick that cheated on you once before?

HBO made Mayweather, Delahoya, RJJ, Gatti, and Shane very rich. Once you solidified yourself in that stable, you are financially set.

No. I didn't go to Harvard. I got my MBA from New York University.

                  Arum also went to NYU.

Interesting, though, how you accuse people of lying.

Ok, the fight is on....It will be announce later today...

Arum was going to pay Cotto 3.5 Mills, the same amount he was going to get for the Margarito fight...Cotto wanted 4 to 4.5 mills...It seems they have an agreement. The contracts are not signed yet, but still Arum and Golden Boy are going to announce the fight soon..

                    Here's the spanish link...
