I blame the fact he was using.

******* and liquor was making him psychotic. Hopefully he's rehabilitated fully so he can fight again, and make strides to bury the past.

There's something called drug induced psychosis.

Maybe you should research that a bit.

Just to let you know, it has nothing to do with him being drunk.

Using hard drugs over time changes your brain chemistry and can be a form of temporary insanity. I highly doubt Spaddy would have shot his girlfriend given he hadn't hit rock bottom with a substance abuse problem.

He's shown in the past he couldn't control it, and it was beginning to ruin his life. The Apex was when he shot her.

He had already been in trouble with the law over alcohol and drug related problems, and that was a tell tale indicator he wasn't in his right state of mind. You can downplay facts and refer to them as "excuses" all you want.

But Drugs and Alcohol are one of the main causes of lack of proper judgement that leads people to commit violent crimes. In my book, it's just as viable an excuse as pointing to someone who has a mental disability or is psychotic.

And In my book they deserve less punishment because they are able to be rehabilitated, unlike a total schizo who is a threat to everyone.

I was making a point. I realize he wasn't drunk. Believe me...I understand what you're saying about drug induced psychosis and drugs affecting your brain chemistry (that's why people take them).

What I don't understand is you believing it makes a valid excuse. If a driver under the influence runs into a car and kills or maims the family inside you believe he/she deserves less of a punishment than someone who was sober? Or someone is methed up and murders or shoots a convenience store employee? Or coked up and ****s someone or assaults somebody? You've got to be joking me man...really...

That kind of argument went out of style 30 years ago. I'm amazed some people still hold onto blaming the chemical instead of the man/woman who put it in their body. It's a sad and archaic defense.

My only defense was in favor of the idea that people beyond us deemed him rehabilitated and able to re enter society.

Neither one of us are the one's paroling him, and I merely stated a reason that could have explained his actions, as well as his early release.

Also he was sentenced 10 months to five years and would be paroled based on his behavior and signs of rehabilitation. The judge at sentencing might have been leanient but a parole board approved of his release.

I don't think either one of use are aware of the full proceedings and what the crime entailed, or the circumstances. All I know is I liked him as a fighter and I'd like to see him fight again now that he's a free man.

Hopefully he's rehabilitated and he can put the past behind him.
