Even though I was impressed with how easy Gomez disposed of Gatti, I have to with Mayweather. I mean it seemed like every punch he was throwing was connecting and Gatti barely touched PBF. It was one of the more lopsided fights I've seen.

Gomez Vs Baldomir would be really nice! I wonder how Gomez is going to do when he steps it up again? How about Gomez vs Judah who wins?

gatti landed a few shots on gomez, shots that would have stopped gomez had this fight taken place in gatti's prime.

he didnt land a goddamn thing on floyd.

this thread is ridiculous. im putting it to rest.

gomez beat gatti down badly, and he looked impressive against gatti, who many will call a shot fighter, and gomez literally destroyed him. gomez landed some wicked shots and of course the knockout shot put the icing on the cake, but floyd mayweather literally put on a performance like i've never seen from a fighter who is considered a light puncher. i've always claimed floyd's prime weightclass was at 140 and gatti at this weight did win a few fights in a row before fighting floyd. although many boxing experts didn't really give gatti a chance, many others said that if gatti could keep up with floyd, floyd would be in a lot of trouble. after watching the 1st round, even after the knockdown and how it occured, people's faces just dropped with shockness of just how fast floyd was. floyd literally made gatti look like a fighter who should not have turned pro ever. he totally dominated him, landing fast, accurate, and very sharp punches, and he was hardly touched. floyd just destroyed gatti, and he did it in his hometown when gatti was a major draw. floyd's counter left hook in the 3rd round just showed me just how comfortable he was in the ring, because he threw it with such ease and grace like he was just fighting air. he made gatti look like a **** warrior who was just done. styles make fights, and floyd's style at 140 was just too much for any fighter at that weight, incling kosta's and hatton and cotto. floyd just wiped the floor with gatti, and had gatti's team not threw in the towel, maybe i'm pushing it, but i felt that gatti could have died in that ring that night, it was that brutal. floyd hit him with a vicious combo to the head and body in the 6th round and gatti just took it. floyd landed a left hook to the body, followed by a right hook upstairs, followed by a left hook to the head, right hook to the body and another right hook upstairs and then later on in the round he landed three straight left hooks and then a left hook that moved gatti back halfway across the ring. floyd hurt him much more than gomez trust me. gomeaz knocked him out but floyd broke him down in a vicious manner. let's see if gomez could beat floyd at that weight, no way in hell, he'd get killed.

i would have to lean more towards gomez due to the fact that it was a step up for him and he wasn't given a chance by most and he retired gatti for good.

as for mayweather vs gatti, that fight shouldn't have even happened. mayweather in every way before the fight was far more superior and those in the know

, knew that the fight was going to go down that way, and the only thing that gatti had for that fight was a lucky punch.

to sum it up mayweather and gomez basically fought the same gatti and i think gomez especially not getting any credit prior to the fight did exactly what he was supposed to do and that was get gatti out of there.

mayweather did the same but we already knew it was coming. so no surprise.

You want to get technical.. Gomez. He finished the job so bad the athletic commissioner had to stop the fight. He did the stoppage in the ring, by himself.

True, it was after Mayweather beat Gatti, but Mayweather isn't the type of fighter to change your style, or hurt you irreversibly. He out boxes you and hits you with decent shots. Not life-altering shots.

Gatti may have been faded even more. But, that's really not what the question is, so I don't even take that into consideration.

I'd go with Gomez, by a slight margin. Though Mayweather did it cleaner, without getting caught with almost anything. Gomez' was just VERY brutal. (BTW, OBVIOUSLY I'm not implying that Gomez is better than Mayweather. He just got a real nice win.)

I think Mayweather is the best fighter in boxing, so don't take this the wrong way. But it's been twenty years since a fighter was as overrated from a single performance. I have a bunch opf friends who say "Mayweather's untouchable, just look at the Gatti fight," "Hatton will be another Gatti." That's ridiculous.

It was a great performance, but not even Floyd's best, let alone the best performance of recent years (Calzaghe against Lacy, Dawson against Adamek, Wlad in any fight, etc.). And Gomez and Baldomir (not to mention De La Hoya) both beat Gatti more impressively.
