Lacys comeback?

When you brits get your one great fighter every 25 years(Hatton doesn't count), you fall head over heels in love w/ him. He beat an inexperienced fighter(Lacy) . He has a great trainer but lack of experience. I'm in no way a Lacy fanboy but, so ****ing what if he beat Lacy, He gonna get his ass whooped by a damn dutchman.

it's not about the hype that Calzaghe beat Lacy, its that before this fight, everybody made Calzaghe out to be some scrub with no skills whatsoever and made Lacy out to be some Hall of famer... go check the polls in these forums when the fight happened, it was ridiculous that 80-90% of the people said Lacy was gonna destroy him and were bashing the English fighter, and when Calzaghe won, you guys talked about lacy like some mediocre contender. the British have every right to bash him and his fans.

You make a good point but racial/nationality bashing is still not neccessary. I understand Calzaghe fans saying to Lacy fans that haha we beat your fighter. But saying something about British beating Americans even though there are many Americans that aren't Lacy fans is a bit off.

But why cant any one answer my question? This is what i've begun to hate about this NSB forum, it's that no one talks about boxing but only flame each other.

Lacy has torn his rotator cuff muscle. he will NEVER throw a left hook with conviction again. Mentally he was not just beat by a champ. but for 12 rounds he was PUNISHED by a great boxer.

Because after Mayweather beats Hatton, Calzaghe is the only one left great British boxer and Lacy is JC's best accomplishment in his career.

but that still doesn't justify the hate towards Lacy, Zab Judah is Miguel Cotto's best win and a lot of people were still giving Judah credit, they gave Cotto more but Judah got his props for his heart so why is Lacy any different? it took heart to put up his reputation, undefeated record and title on the line against Calzaghe so early in his career, something like Vargas did with Trinidad, you telling me you can't respect that?? maybe boxing ain't for you then.. you people need to stop being so biased and start calling **** down the line because Lacy is a good boxer, he has MAD heart just look at Jeff Lacy VS Syd Vanderpool and see for yourself.. 100

I don't know why so many people keep predicating every quote or message about Calzaghe with "British" or "Welsh" or wherever he is from. Who cares? Talent is talent and will always win out.

I am "American" and I think Lacy was overrated.

I think Calzaghe hasn't beaten enough name recognition fighters to say he is great.

I think Hopkins or Winky Wright would beat Calzaghe on any given night, which is why he hasn't fought anyone of that caliber, and everyone knows it.

It was mentioned here before that Calzaghe is trying to retire undefeated. He won't pick anyone he can't beat. All this reminds me of Prince Naseem who was unstoppable until he ran into someone who was a skilled boxer.

Calzaghe is good, but great is a stretch at this point.

I agree with you, but Calzaghe is not great. He is good, but not great. He has to beat a few more top notch guys to be great. Wright, Hopkins, etc.

Remember, Hopkins beat Trinidad, De La Hoya, Wright, Tarver..

IMO he beat Taylor because he landed more power punches in both fights, but that is spilt milk. I wish Calzaghe would fight these guys, so supremacy in the middleweights could be established once again.
