Calzaghe was rubbished and discredited before the Lacy fight. American Lacy fanboys were saying Calzaghe was gonna get knocked the **** out. and that Jeff was the new coming of Mike Tyson with the heart of Holyfield.

When you brits get your one great fighter every 25 years(Hatton doesn't count), you fall head over heels in love w/ him. He beat an inexperienced fighter(Lacy) . He has a great trainer but lack of experience. I'm in no way a Lacy fanboy but, so ****ing what if he beat Lacy, He gonna get his ass whooped by a damn dutchman.

That fight is so overrated... Lacy was a PROSPECT and got beat. Not any kind of P4P fighter. Good fight, credit is due, but nothing like what you guys hype this fight to be.

Anyways answer this mans question and quit bashing fighters.

What I loved about the Lacy/Calzaghe fight was the way Jeff came out with the usual staple of **** that it seems all young black American fighters come out with. "Oh yeah, i'm gonna destroy him!", "He ain't nothing, I'm gunna knock him out" "Calzaghe ain't nothing but a slapper." etc etc et ****ing c

Yet when they went to show the camera around Joe's gym he was nothing but civil, not saying a bad word about Jeff.. not showing off - even saying "what will be will be, but I think I have the better chance of winning."

Come fight night Jeff is jumping around in his changing room like he's on speed or something, being possessed by the devil..being 'PYSCHED!'. Whilst Joe sits there waving to the camera being nice and relaxed.

The bell rings and Lacy eats his ****ing words, i loved it. I usually would have been bored by such a one sided fight - but i ****ing loved the way Lacy got 'slapped' black, blue and bloody for being a big mouthed ****.

it's not about the hype that Calzaghe beat Lacy, its that before this fight, everybody made Calzaghe out to be some scrub with no skills whatsoever and made Lacy out to be some Hall of famer... go check the polls in these forums when the fight happened, it was ridiculous that 80-90% of the people said Lacy was gonna destroy him and were bashing the English fighter, and when Calzaghe won, you guys talked about lacy like some mediocre contender. the British have every right to bash him and his fans.
