I was about to say the same thing. He made that statement in early 2006 after a reporter from the UK announced Lewis was returning to fight Klitschko.

Lennox Lewis always has something coming out saying he'd fight Vitali again. To be honest, I don't know where the appeal is. Lennos is chunky right now and just overall not in good physical fitness. Vitali is all messed up with injuries and coming off of crazy inactivity. The fight would be a dud.

That being said, the fight never happens.

Febuary, thats not so long ago. They stood in a ring in Germany together also and Lewis said to him and the crowd that he wouldnt be back.
Vitali just doesnt get the irony in what Lewis says jokingly. Its all a language translation thing with vitali.

What the hell are you people smoking? This would be the sickest rematch that could be made in boxing today. The first fight was a war. If Vitali can reclaim the belt and beat Lewis then he would get the respect and the big win that his legacy needs. If Lewis can recliam the title from Vitali and beat him again, Lewis will further solidify his legacy as an all time great. If these two could get into good fighting shape I'd be all for it. Lewis says alot of things, but if the money was right, I think he'd be hard pressed not to fight a man who he beat once and who people say could beat him.
