the guy better not get up to 180 pounds! i'm a fan of him, but never appreicate it when he eats and drinks and turns so fat. i'm not sure if it affects your boxing, but boy it's not a good thing. he needs to be prepared more than ever for mayweather.
Should Ricky stop eating fish and chips and drinking pints of stella?

he does the lot.
Post fight, apparently...After partying with all the fans all night and the next day he usually goes on a cruise with his family and its an all-you can eat and drink thing. He eats fast food and drinks guiness untill he can't drink no more. Balloons up. Then once off holiday he usually spends alot of time down his own pub.
Then once the fight is announced he goes into training, stops drinking, eating **** and slims down (he uses alot of suppliments to trim down aswell).
Then after the weigh in, he goes and has a full English breakfast and a McDonalds. Then wins and goes and does it all over again.
Lately however i don't think he's been so bad - as he's getting older, its been getting more painful and harder to trim down (hence his short attempt at the higher weight). I don't think you will see the inbetween fight 20 year old Ricky hatton ever again, because he can't do it. Granted, he does put on weight between fights, but not like he used too.
Once his career is over, i guarentee the boy is going to be huge.
Of cause its affected his training, and the love of his ale and food is possibly a reason why Hatton will be retired in 2 or 3 more fights (i mean properly retired, not pretend retired in an attempt to be called out for more money.) But if Hatton wants to live his life this way, and his career has been nothing but a sucess - then he can't have done that much wrong eh?Last edited by DELETED ACCOUNT 06; 07-31-2007, 05:26 AM.Comment

It affects him, and he should significantly cut back. It's nice to be one with the people, it's quite another to be as big as two people. But.. if he only has 2 or 3 more fights, I guess it wont matter.Comment

As everyone knows, I'm a Hatton supporter...but I don't like the way he balloons up between fights.
He really does need to be more careful with his diet - he is a very talented fighter and it shouldn't go to waste. I think he can beat Mayweather, but not if he balloons up to 180, and then has to crash diet before the fight, because he'll lose muscle and strength if he does that. He needs to stay in shape between fights, save the beer for when he's retired. A boxer is only in his prime for a few years and should make the best of the talent he has.Comment
