I've seen the Chavez fight. I had it a draw after 8 rounds. Mayweather just started taking over.

Lederman had it just like you did. Even fight after 8. But, apparently, Chavez had taken alot of punishment en route to that. So Ronnie Shields made the call.

      Those uppercuts were sharp.

WHAT IF Hatton finds that Mayweather (by virtue of the experience fighting and sparring MUCH bigger men for two years now) can NOT be pushed around?

WHAT IF Hatton finds that Mayweather is as strong or stronger than he is?

WHAT IF Hatton finds that the Mayweather/Toney old-school style of inside fighting is more effective than his own brawling, swarming style?
WHAT IF Hatton overwhelms Floyd's counters and is as fast on his feet as Mayweather?

WHAT IF Floyd gets trapped often and early against the ropes and absorbs some punishment to the arms and body?

WHAT IF Floyd makes an adjustment to deal with Hatton's tactics only to find that Hatton makes an adjustment to deal with Floyd's new game?

This is why we watch boxing instead of just talking about it.

Well, the nature of these hypotheticals elicits the question about who you feel is the fighter most equipped to make adjustments, alter a gameplan or fight in a style to which he isn't accustomed. For example, SRL found himself outboxed by Hearns, and had to turn slugger. If Hatton finds that he can't outbrawl PBF, is he prepared to outbox him? Huh?

To my mind, the fighter with the bigger toolbox is Mayweather. NOT that Hatton is incapable of adjustments, but he appears to have the more narrow skillset. As a betting man, I'm inclined to wager on the more complete fighter.

Re the red text above: Let's not go crazy.

Floyd Mayweather starts Ricky Hatton diatribe

              By Gareth A Davies
              Last Updated: 1:49am BST 01/08/2007

Floyd Mayweather, the American famous for insulting his opponents in the build-up to fights, yesterday began what will be a prolonged diatribe against the Mancunian Ricky Hatton before their showdown in December.

Mayweather may also come on a promotional tour of Britain before the fight, with Hatton touring the United States.

Mayweather, known as 'Pretty Boy', and the world's No 1-ranked pound-for-pound fighter, insisted yesterday that Hatton, the world light-welterweight champion, will be "a punchbag" when the pair meet in Las Vegas. December 8 is the date pencilled in, but it has yet to be confirmed.

"I don't know who is the pound-for-pound No 2 in the world, but there is no fighter in the world like me," said Mayweather, 30, who is expected to gross a minimum of £8 million for the contest.

"Hatton is in for a rude awakening when we meet and he is in for a shock if he thinks I'm like any fighter he has ever faced. I'm in the business of blood, sweat and tears."

It was Hatton, 28, who began the verbal sparring after he had beaten Jose Luis Castillo in June by insinuating that Mayweather's fighting style lacked excitement.

But Mayweather claims Castillo surrendered. "I saw Castillo get hit with a body shot, turn around, take five steps and sit down," he said. "I wasn't impressed. When I'm done with [Hatton] he'll think he was fighting four people."

imo hattons one of the most intelligent boxers out there. feel this time around he will have no problem diciplining himself weightwise.

like i've stated before if hatton gets to pick which reff and size of the ring he could do it. styles makes fights!!!

                  Squeal,

You seem an honest chap. And you seem so certain of Ricky's abilities.

Would you like to place a wager on the fight?

If Hatton wins, I fly you and your missus to NYC and put you up at a nice hotel for a weekend.

If Mayweather wins, you fly my girl and I to London for a lovely weekend at the Sanderson.

The missus and I live in Toronto...

But seriously no, I won't be betting anything on this fight. I have a tendency of losing bets.
