The point is that Hopkins did not get any points deducted for fighting like that IN THE STATES (somewhere that we are frequently told Hatton would be incapable of fighting like that), nor was he disqualified. Furthermore I seem to remember there being about 3 threads complaining about Hopkins' barely legal tactics, whereas we invariably have to put up with more than those 3 from one individual poster alone when it comes to Hatton roughing his opponent up and using dubious tactics. I'm looking for a bit of consistency, thats all and its a completely valid point to make.Comment

Without disrespecting Hatton the way I see him winning this fight is by being dirty. He will have to do what he did against Tzu. Bull rush in hold with one hand and hit with the other, rabbit punch and maybe even a low blow to break down PBF some and slow down his mobility.
I dont see another way that Hatton can consistently stay in tight on PBF if its not this way. And I think everyone agrees that Hatton can't win on the outside so he will have get inside.
With that said PBF doesn't have killer instinct and if he will most likely be content to pick Hatton apart from a distance and not risk going for a KO. So I wouldn't expect Hatton to be stopped unless its via cuts.Comment

Why do you care if Hatton has less fans and more critics on an American-heavy website? Does that perplex you? Are you confused? The point is that Hopkins did not get any points deducted for fighting like that IN THE STATES (somewhere that we are frequently told Hatton would be incapable of fighting like that), nor was he disqualified. I know you must watch some boxing. Tell me who's fans are more enthusiastic- Hatton's or Bernard's? Ok, then.
It doesn't change the fact that you're premeditating defenses for Hatton. He's dirty in his own right- apart from Bernard Hopkins.Comment

No...you're missing the point. What I'm suggesting is that if he wins this fight, people shouldnt try and discredit his victory by picking him up on the things that this forum at large let an American fighter get away with.Comment

I'm not missing your point. I just said, and I quote:
This means that it should be expected. Why do you care if Hatton has less fans and more critics on an American-heavy website?
And who cares? Why does it bother you so much? These aren't real boxing critics.Comment

It doesnt bother me 'so much'. I'm merely pointing it out so that when it happens I can exclaim how predictable it was. Why does it bother YOU so much that I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of many of the users of this forum?Comment

It's not hypocrisy- it's nationalism.
But since we're off the subject of boxing, I'm done.Comment
