      Let's just end this discussion...

I don't care if someone has a good reputation for their boxing analysis, in the real world negotiations centre round correspondance, meetings and contracts, not some sloppy journo writing "Hatton wanted no part of Floyd". That isn't evidence.

      laters.
Well, you DO care. Because you were very selective about the SOURCES. Never mind that Kevin Iole, the author of the article, writes for Yahoo Sports, the Las Vegas newspaper, Tiger Boxing AND RING MAGAZINE.

And just so you know, Mayweather tried to get Hatton to take that April 8th Judah date after Judah nearly blew it by losing to Baldomir. So, Hatton turned down negotiations in 2006 as well.

Not that you will give this any validity, but have at it...

Hatton said: "There'll be more pressure to fight Mayweather now from the Americans because, obviously, there's one less big fight out there for Floyd Mayweather now Zab Judah has lost. But a fight with Mayweather has always been very high up the agenda for us; but we still want one or two fights in America before we get to Mayweather. If anything, Judah's loss has make us even more attractive in the marketplace."

But Hatton believes his son needs the experience of fighting abroad before he takes on the super-talented three-division champion Mayweather.

He said: "Richard needs the experience of training aboard for a fight for the very first time, getting used to that, he needs to have the experience of doing everything the American television and media will expect him to do, getting used to the different time zones, fighting in front of an American crowd - all that.

"And I don't want him to have to deal with all that for the very first time and fight someone like Mayweather as well. Richard isn't a big head, he's got no ego on him, and he will tell you himself that Mayweather is the biggest danger out there for him. That's why he wants to fight Mayweather most of all now he's already beaten Kostya Tszyu, who was the No.1 before Ricky beat him. So, when Richard does fight Mayweather I want Richard comfortable with where he's training and everything else that goes with having a big fight in America."

How do you get that Floyd tried to make a fight in April 06 from that article?

I didn't get it from that article.

After Judah lost, Team Mayweather was looking for another option because they didn't think that PBF/Judah was still a commercially viable fight.

They called arum/margarito, but the Gomez fight was slated for late Feb and Arum didn't want to shelve that ****ty PPV. They called Hatton, who asked for tune-ups (that is what the article refers to).

Eventually, Haymon and Ellerbe decided to go back to King and just make a small concession (1 mil less) and to force a bigger concession from Judah (2 mil less). The fight went off well, even though Zab didn't participate in the promotion.

          True Story.

            LMAO @ 2 weeks.

Well, we are three months away from knowing EXACTLY what Hatton is. I'm patient.

I love how the Brits always try to hype up Collazo. The fight was taken on 2 weeks notice now. I guess 2 weeks is enough time to get an HBO date set up. And supposedly Collazo is a big weltweight with power. Right...

So it's just heresay then? Thought so.

If Hatton wanted to get used to fighting in the US and build up his profile then good luck to him. That was really the whole intention of his 3 fight HBO deal anyway and it seems to have worked if the reported purse for the PBF fight is anywhere near accurate.

He's under no obligation to bail Floyd out of his problems anyway, so even if it was true that Floyd approached him then he was right to carry on with his own plan. Floyd really isn't as important as he or his fanboys like to make out.

Regardless of where the site is based has no bearing on the report being based on complete truth. The UK is the country of the tabloid therefore our journalists must be judged based on their earned credibility, not just because they can write an article!
Also no-one is dis*****g what Ray Hatton said, what we are dis*****g is the so called 'many call-outs' from Mayweather and the 'many backtracks' from the Hatton camp!

The bottom line is that Hatton has now agreed to fight Mayweather whilst he very much still in his prime so here ends the argument!

It's "HEARSAY" to the extent that Team Mayweather said that is what they did, and Team Hatton acknowledged pressure from "the Americans". And it was reported in American media (that you won't give credibility to, so why bother).

What's great about this entire process is that they have to FIGHT. There's been alot of talk from the UK contingent, and most recently, from Hatton's trainer. I understand that they need to build up Ricky's confidence. Just a few fights ago, he didn't feel that he was ready. But now they have to fight.

We can go 'round and 'round. I'm willing to wait to see what happens inside the ring...aren't you?
