What next after Wlad Klitschko unifies?...

Right now the hw division is on the cusp on unifying the WBO/WBA titles in October with the winner rumored to face IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko. If all goes right, Klitschko could be wearing all three belts by mid 2008 and have a potential rematch unifier with WBC champ Sam Peter, if that scenario pans out. So let me get to my question:

If Klitschko is able to unify 3 or even 4 of the titles, how does he hold onto all the titles? What I mean is, each sanctioning body has it's own rating system which sometimes leads to ridculous mandatories like Ray Austin. If all the 'bodies' have different mandatories it's going to make it very difficult for Wlad to hold onto some or all of the titles.

My prediction is that, Klitschko will unify some or all the titles and then have to vacate one or more because of sanctioning bodies beuracracy.

    What are your thoughts?

If Wlad unifies 3 belts, he can give them all up, belts won't mean **** at that point.

I would rather see Vitali unify though.

I agree; the fact that he beat the title holders is what matters, not if he can hold onto them. And boxing2005, forget about Vitali; he's a just a side show to Wlad(with all due respect) at this point in his career. There's no point in him competing with his brother to see who can hold the most belts. Give him the WBC belt and forget it!..

Still, one can have a dream, huh? I think Vitali is a much better boxer overall, I'd rather see him unified champ for 3 years than Wlad for 6 years.

Frankly, I doubt he would be able to hold on to all of them. Not because he isn't talented enough, but because of the infighting between sanctioning bodies. Someone will strip him for passing up their number one contender for another number one contender from a competing sanctioning body.

But it won’t matter because he will have obviously made his mark in history if he unifies.

He's had numerous injuries and a long layoff; so I don't know what to expect. And I would rather see Wlad reign for 6 more years than Vitali's 3...

He unifies then moves down to Strawweight. Bet you didn't see that coming.

If he unifies 3 of the 4, I'd happy to call him the "undisputed hw champion" of the world. He also needs to get his hands on the "Ring magazine" title...
