It was a flash knockdown, that he handled well. He went on to dominate again after it (In terms of winning rounds pretty comfortably.. and if he sticks to using the great jab he has, he is still a force. He won.. case and point.

He showed some serious heart when he got knocked down. Plus not to mention in the replay you could clearly see that he didn't expect that punch at all. While he was in the corner he didn't seem dazed, but hell if his corner planned that out then it was a smart move on their part. I know its dirty but as a trainer you do what has to be done to help your fighter out.

Berto was knockdown. Was he expose? No. Fighting Rivera was what u call a step up in competition, a first test for him. River might not be a top 10 fighter(now, don't know back then) but his a tough competitor. He got counter and went down, but he got up. Like any upcoming boxers, everybody has their learning experience. At least he didn't get KO like Litzau.

It is important to remember this:

ZAB JUDAH PUT COSME RIVERA ON THE CANVAS THREE TIMES AND STOPPED RIVERA INSIDE OF THREE ROUNDS.

And that was when Cosme was much fresher.

Berto got knocked down, and stumbled getting up. He was saved by the bell. He was still MAJORLY DAZED. That long corner really helped him.

Berto was still very buzzed. He was very fortunate that it wasn't the middle of the round. He would have been stopped.

If the fight is uploaded, i will watch it again. I remember him getting up, stumbling, but after that seems almost recover. Even if the middle round, he would have survive, just staying away or clinching. Its more of a flash knockdown than a knockdown that is close to KO. Yeah it took a long time for him to get back because of the corner. But when the round ended, u can see Berto shaking his head of disappointment. He was recover already.

i agree had their been more time in the round chances are rivera probly would of stopped him. i dont think he was EXPOSED, i dont think he was that wonderful to begin with, he is def above average and is a tough guy with great power and a good arsenal, but he jus got knocked down in a fight. that can happen. he isnt the greatest fighter on the planet he is still young and is still coming up. the media made him to be the next best thing in WW, but i always thought he was a good fighter, but needed alot of work. i wouldnt say he was exposed. he stepped up in competition, and got knocked down by a perfectly timed punch, got up, and won. he needs ALOT of work before he can compete with the top welters, because if it was in the middle of the round, i agree he would of been stopped. but again, exposed isnt the right word to use against his performance, he fought well, and made a mistake and payed for it, and luckily he still won, but those are the mistakes he has to work on if he wants to be a champ someday.

Everyone kept talking about Berto as "the next big thing". He was prospect of the year in '06.

Last night was Berto's 19th fight. Not to put too much pressure on him, but Mayweather's 18th and 19th fights were stoppages over Genaro Hernandez and Angel Manfredy. And Floyd was 21 at the time. Berto is 23.

                      I'm just saying.
