RIGGED GG! the standing 8 count took 20 seconds to administer and the round ended just in time then he got a full minute after the round was supposed to start to change his glove. cheaterpants

The same way, the skin can be cut by being hit by a big soft rubbery glove.

The force of punches can cause tears, especially when the glove is being compressed every time a punch lands.

Yeah I remember in an earlier round the ref had Berto's corner cut something off of his glove it was damaged or something.

Berto's corner was smart by replacing the damaged glove after he got knocked down. Even if it was dirty if I was in Berto's corner I'd want to protect his future you know?

Exactly what i'm trying to understand?
I know i'm his fan but i agree his defence is complete ****, it's only a matter of time before he gets caught by a big punch and it's good night for him.
I believe he should change to a trainer who will sort out his defence.

Is the Berto situation the same as Amir Khan's experience last week? getting KD but eventually winning, his fans claiming it's a 'learning curve' and his detractors claiming 'exposed'?

This may or may not have been a stunt by Berto's corner... I can't say.

But if you watched the fight, I don't think you can claim Berto needed the extra time. He recovered quickly once he rose to his feet. It appeared to be nothing more than a flash knockdown. And when they were putting on his new glove, Berto basically had to be held back from getting back in the fight before he was even completely taped up.

I can't be held responsible for what other people say about fighters getting knocked down, but to me, if a fighter gets knocked down, regains his composure, and finishes the fight off winningly, he has showed heart. And for a prospect with a careless defense, this can actually end up helping his career (aside from the fact that some will have knee jerk reaction and call him "exposed").

As for not fighting anyone halfway decent after this, look up David Estrada...
