If boxing had a commission it would rival the top 3 sports in the US. A commission would regulate the sport and rid it of the corrupt organizations that run it now. The public would see bigger and better fights on a more consistent basis. Which would allow the fighters to become better known and more of a national sports figure than any other time b4. We would, could and should have 1 champ per weight class. which IMO would lead to a lot more competitive fights and a more recognizable champion. Gone would be the days of one fighter "ducking" another fighter. B/C the commission could order a fight or the 2 fighter would lose their ranking or get stripped of their belt(which if there is only one champ, stripping them of their title would actually mean something). i want to know what the rest of you guys think about this
Boxing needs a commission!

I agree. they have all those belts scattered all across the place and all those weight classes. I wish they would go back to the old days when there were only one belt per division and only 6 weight classes. they should take all the junior and super divisions away. there should only be flyweight, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, lightheavyweight, and heavyweight. They just throw all those other belts in there to be greedy and get more money.

But dont you think that they could make just as much money with just one champ? i mean even the top contenders could make good money b/c the public will watch. why will they watch? b/c they know its gonna be a good matchup...not only would the champ regain its credibility for being the champ, but the #1 contender spot would be important as well. b/c fighter would want that #1 spot just as much as the title belt. IMO i just think the sport has too much talent and potential stars to have only 1 or 2 self promoters and 1 who is the "cash cow" and is making all the money albeit only fighting once a yr. lets get it togetherComment

the WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO and all the other belts get extra money for thier commisions. if they take away all those belts, the commisions would lose thier money. when they make all those belts, they just make boxing confusing and let people know how greedy they are. and there are alot of divisions out there that are still not unified. like the heavyweight division and the juniormiddleweight division. there would be more boxing fans if the public new who the real champion in the division is. instead, there are about 4 or 5 champions. and that is just the recognized belts. there are still belts out there that i never heard of. for example, roy jones has an IBC lightheavyweight belt. i dont know where that one came from.
