I think there's definately a lot of merit in this idea. The only problem is that in reality it will be so hard to enforce in a sensible way. Yes you could always try and merge the sanctioning bodies, but there is virtually nothing you can do to stop new ones being setup to fill the voids.

Once an opportunity arises to promote a big money bout all it takes is for someone with enough cash to label the fight a world title fight, and all of a sudden you'll have a load of other fighters looking to get in on this new world title which brings more money or is easier to obtain.

Well if the fans decide not to watch or buy tickets to any of the "rogue" promotions of a championship fight then **** would change. actually we dont need the alphabet comissions to do it. we already recognize the "ring" champion as the real champ. really the other so-called champs are irrelevant. if a fighter doesnt apply and become registered as a "ring" boxer, then he doesnt fight. and of course we would have the get the states sanctioning bodies to help out by not sanctioning any of the "rogue" promotions. yea it will take a lot to make it happen, but it can be done. us a fans just have to DEMAND it

I doubt you will find a person who doesn;t agree on this.
        the question is.. how?
You would have to lure or take all the fighters away from all the organizations now and make a new one or put them all into one.

Problem is Boxing is an international sport.
So you would have to have one comission in charge of a certain amount of countries and their champs, and another for another set of countries and so on.

then you would compeat in your own league.. such as in FIFA or any other national sport. then you would have a global thing every some years.
This would give you one world title fight like every 4 years or whatever the set the date to.

So it wouldn't work out that well either.

You could have the North American & Central America Champ, South America Champ, European Champ etc... That right there makes a lot of champs.
and they would only get a World title shot every such and such years.

I DON'T THINK IT WOULD WORK OUT ALL THAT WELL!

If we had a commission the same thing would happen to boxing that is happening to the UFC. It would turn into a monopoly,
