I tend to support guys of my own nationality over other nationalities (British rather than English though). That said they aren't necessarily my favourite fighters. If Cotto fought Hatton I wouldn't know who to cheer for - one of my favourite fighters or British Ricky.....

I think it's better if you didn't point out other people's race. That helps lower the racism and vulgar language, don't you want that? It's so dumb, race should have nothing to do with you being a fan of a boxer. There's no good reason, why can't you judge a boxer by their skill not by their race. We didn't choose to be born the way we wanted to.

People always like to associate themselves with someone - look at football (proper football). Fans often follow their country or their hometown side rather than just supporting the most skilful sides.

It doesn't mean they can't appreciate the skill from other players/fighters though. I really dislike some fighters for their style and out of the ring persona, but I'd like to think I can objectively appreciate their talent.
