Probably, I've been skeptical of Povetkin's management since they matched him up against Donald. But, a loss to a former champion such as Byrd, at this point in his career shouldn't hurt him at all. Also, there can be something said about 'seizing an opportunity' like this; it's not guaranteed that it will happen again...

Some quick facts about Povetkin:
He's 13-0, with 10 KO as a pro, but what's even more impressive is that
a) he's never lost a round so far as a pro, against some decent opposition
b) he's never been knocked down or hurt in a fight, either as an amateur or pro
c) he has the best amateur record as a super heavyweight, since they started the weight class some 25-30 years ago
d) he won Gold in 12 of 13 international tournaments (including the 2004 Olympics) and Silver in the other - he only lost once as an amateur, a close and controversial decision, and later avenged that loss with a KO win over the same opponent
e) if you go by the won-loss records of his first 13 opponents - add them up - no heavyweight has ever successfully faced better opposition in his first 13 fights! Lennox Lewis probably comes the closest...Comment

Brock should defeat Chambers, and I think Calvin will then give Povetkin his toughest fight yet.Comment

In Vitali Klitschko's autobiography he has admitted he's used steroids in the past. In the autobiography, Vitali reveals using steroids after aggravating a leg injury he had previously sustained during a kick-boxing bout. While Vitali was still boxing for the Ukrainian boxing team in 1996, he tested positive for a banned substance and was immediately thrown off the team. At the time, Vitali was training for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Since then, Vitali has tested clean for steroids his entire pro career.Comment

Nice to see two young prospects getting a chance. I would rather see this than see a Bryd/Brock eliminator and the winner facing Wlad again and getting beat up again. This gives some young HW's a chance and some new blood to challenge Wlad. The HW division has been doing some good things with this and the unifying of titles with the Chagaev/Ibragimov matchup.Comment

So it would seem that you'd like to see the 2 younger prospects duke it out for a shot at Wlad ( or whoever beats him,if he loses ) ???Comment
