NO, it's just something kind of funny. And I'm Mexican. Funnier the first time, but at least the gag stayed in the family.

Well I think only Mexicans can judge if it's really disrespectful or not. Oscar De La Hoya didn't have a problem with it, and neither did Floyd's cutman (who is also Mexican).
Floyd said it was out of respect.
Personally, I thought it was kind of funny.Comment

everyone saw mayweather wear the mexican colors against oscar. i think this is the most disrespectful thing you could do. this damn mallate has no respect for the real warriors who's blood and sweat made boxing the great sport that it is today. i cant wait until mayweather gets knocked out!! and also hatton did the same thing against castillo and that was also disrespectful. why is some white boy trying to act mexican?? he doestn even fight like a true mexican. he comes forward but no true mexican fighter would ever hug and hold as much as he does. these fighters need to stop disrespecting the great boxing nation of mexico.
Anyways you can't use racial epithets here unless you spell them backwards..Comment

Ruiz was a true mexican.. and he hugged. I grew up around mexicans and still hang out with mostly mexicans and even they said that if it was Oscar vs. another mexican then Oscar would be counted as the "american". Why all of a sudden does Mexico back Oscar? I'm pretty sure Oscar vs. JCC showed that Oscar was hated in Mexico because he wasn't afraid to show the flag of the COUNTRY THAT MADE HIM GREAT. What was that country again? Oh ****, America.
And yes, Floyd was wearing the sombrero and mexican colors out of disrespect.. and I was laughing the whole ****ing time. Everyone else around me, who happened to be mexican, wasn't though.. which made it x10 funnier.
Callate pinche cabrone, viva Floyd Mayweather!Comment

It was definately intended as a sign of respect. You want to know how I know this? Everyone in Mayweather's camp who came to the ring with him had shirts that said "Mayweather Loves Mexico" on them. For him to have his whole camp wearing those T-shirts and be trying to disrespect Mexico wouldn't make much sense now would it?Comment

Ruiz is Puerto Rican smart guy.
And no, it was not a show of respect that had Floyd coming out with sombrero and t-shirts. That said, I found it hilarious. He came out trying to stir the pot and he did so. Hats off to you. It was just another element of a truly big event.Comment
