Mayweather would never cross the pond. With Hatton fighting here to gain more popularity I don't think he cares too much if the fight happens here, either. I would rather see it in Britain, though. I think it would sell more there with Ricky being as big as he is....and boxing needs more international affairs. Maybe they could hype up the America vs. Britain thing in the media and get some good coverage on this one, too. Just like the Rumble in the Jungle we need boxers fighting in other venues than Vegas or America in general. Remind everyone the sport is truly a global event in a way no other sport can really boast.
Exactly.
Wembley = 80,000 or 90,000
Not every major boxing event needs to be held in America. If Floyd truly is the P4P number 1, then why not prove it in another country. He is a home fighter and doesn't get any stick for it because everyone says 'he don't need to go abroad - this is the mecca of boxing'. Bollocks - every great fighter goes abroad and the sport is taken just as seriously in other countries and there are much better arenas and stadiums around the world too.
In fact, i'd say other countries have more of an interest in boxing as the crowd for some major boxing events in America is shockingly low.
Also - the people saying Brits would start a riot if Hatton lost don't be so ****ing ******. Brit fans, although very passionate, are some of the best behaved fans in the world.Comment
