By TK Stewart - It was nice to see Marvelous Marvin Hagler in Las Vegas for last weekend’s match between Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright. (And his Christian name was legally changed to “Marvelous” in a Massachusetts court). But at the same it was a grim reminder of how far boxing has fallen from notice by the mainstream sports fan in this country since the days when Hagler ruled the roost. [details]

I dont notice if boxings popularitys dying because me and all my mates are avid boxing fans, Joe Public in general dont seem to know any less then they ever did.
Hatton,Calzaghe and Khan are popular over here,most sports fans would recognise their picture, are many boxers household names in the States??
I'd always thought boxing was really popular in America that people wouldalways know who the champs are. -
Funny how the writer is jocking Hagler for being rabid about destruction. But then I see he trained in P-Town which is known for its more than moderately gay community. Then...theres talk of silky pajamas and what not. I dunno man...getting silky in P-Town sounds a little suspect.
Do we know if Hagler is married? If he was gay it would be a terrible blow to the boxing community.Comment

Yeah I know it dont prove hes straight, it just seems abit weird to me that someone can question whether Haglers gay on the strength of where he trained and what pjs he alledgely wears.I'm not gay but if Marvin Hagler was gay, which I'm like 95 percent sure he's not gay. Hagler is one of the toughest boxers in history, a real man, a ****in soldier. It's guys like him that are no longer in boxing today. He almost died for the sport, for the respect, for the admiration, and for the legacy. Then you got immature pieces of **** like you crackin corny jokes that wouldn't be good in elementary school and disrespecting a legend.
Hagler is from the hood, he trained in Marciano's town, with all Italians, he rolled with gangsters, did what he wanted to do, beat the crap out of whoever he felt like. He moved to Italia for acting, and because he loved the culture. He has a beautiful wife and 5 kids, and if ANYBODY in boxing history WASN'T gay, it would be Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Sorry you can't trust yourself around men and adjectives like marvelous and project your own insecurities on legends like Hagler that to this day would beat you senseless you ****in fruitcake.Comment

I thought ya was going to talk about the article, how Oscar in one fight made more than hagler's whole career, or even maybe some other guys combine, but thats the way the times where back then. But all of a sudden that dude starts a gay topic on a legend. But teh guy on top of me shut him down, so I don't need to say anything. Let's talk about the article, is interesting and has alot of good points. To me Oscars always been a *****, and I can't be wrong, cause alot of great boxers say he is. He so wuped is not even funny, letting his wife that can't know shyt about boxing, tell him what guy looks good for him to box, straight ***** status, you know every boxers wife is going to try to stop their man from boxing,even when you're poor they don't want you to box, imagine when your already rich with money coming out of your ears, I mean every boxer wants to fight Oscar to get their biggest pay check ever, thats telling you something there. I agree. It's a shame any man lets a woman dictate his future, I mean sure, have her input noted, but to rely on her to make your decisions as a fighter is hilarious.
It's sad Hagler made less in his entire career then DLH has made in one fight. Hagler, widely regarded as the best middleweight of all time (Robinson of course is up there, but also fought at 147) was the type of throw-back fighter that comes along once every 50 years. I love Hopkins, but as much as he wants to be Hagler, he never will be. Hagler could box, he could brawl, he had power, speed, he was a complete animal in the ring. Outside of the ring he was always respectful and loved his fans, and truly is, one of the greatest of all time.Comment
