I'm sure dude will be back and still has some good fights left in his career. Thats not the point though.
The point is, he took his own advice about not ducking anyone ever, and it turned out to be bad advice. Most likely ruined the chance he'd been waiting on his entire career. You have to be smarter than that. People rip on Hatton for saying outright that he wasn't ready for Floyd back then, but this is boxing, not a streetfight. In the street you fight for pride, in the ring you fight for money and for the advancement of your career. I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand. BOXING IS A SPORT. You don't have to be a tough guy to be a great boxer (DLH), and part of being a smart fighter is realizing areas you need to work on before you take every fight. Margarito thought he would just step in the ring and fight like he always does because screw it, "Who is Paul Williams?!?!" right? Now look at him. You can't start slow against a guy with that kind of stamina and punch output, period. He figured "Hell, I'm more of a man than this guy, I'm sure that'll be enough to beat him."
Nope. Sorry.
If you walk around with the notion that you are the most feared and dangerous guy on this planet and you will beat whoever is in the other corner based soley off the size of your nuts, eventually this'll happen to you.
BTW- This fight wasn't really all that close, why is there so much talk on this board about it?Comment

ROFL, Margarito doesn't defend hooks well. He does well against straight punches i.e. PW/Cintron type of punches but you can see that looping punches, uppercuts/hooks land at high rates.
Margarito doesn't matchup well with guys like Clottey and Cotto. Cotto would probably stop Margarito via ref/doctor or body KO.Comment

WOW.......Cotto can't even hurt Margarito, let alone stop him. Cotto won't even be the bigger guy in there and would just get pressed all night regardless of how slow you think Margarito is.ROFL, Margarito doesn't defend hooks well. Fight not that close???yeah, maybe if your riding on what the HBO crew says. Margarito was landing all the effective punches, yet people give Williams so much credit for his punch output while not noticing the he missed so many ****en punches. Watch rounds 4,5,7,8,10, and 11 again and you'll notice that this fight was a draw, like how I saw it. This fight was in no way in hell a one-sided victory for Williams.I'm sure dude will be back and still has some good fights left in his career. Thats not the point though.

...it's also funny to me how people believe Cotto would even have a chance against Williams when Williams drawfs his ass, and he will defiantly be able to take Cotto's power when he held well against Margarito's.Comment
