Roy Jones on Steriods could this be

There is a huge drugs culture in US sport. It really wouldn't surprise me if Roy was roided up the whole way through his career (like James Toney).Comment

You know the funny thing about this is that some of you guys talk about steroids like they are magic silver bullet , take some and your superman , on there own they do nothing except retain fluid . the benefit comes from them speeding up your metabolism , which allows your body to repair quicker which allows you to work harder , its the working harder that gives you the gains , all steriods make you retain water , in a sport like boxing thats not a good side effect because not only will you weigh more but the extra weight is not muscle but fluid which inturn makes your internal system run hotter ,
In the lighter weight classes steriods if used in small dose would help a little for thier euphoric feeling towards heavy training thats about all ,, heavy use would do you a lot of harm in the weights smaller than cruiser , using steriods would actually hurt your performance .
It really amazes me the ignorance towards anabolic steroids , probably because of all the bull**** pushed by the media and movies etc , in boxing the drugs most used would be the types like clenbuterol , Dexamethasone , these drugs make you breath better being broncodialators and anti-inflamatorys close down the small carpilliaries in the skin forcing the blood into deep muscle where its needed and away from small cuts in the skin , but again you will run hot and should only use small amounts .
I used steriods on racing dogs for years and have seen what they do to a performance animal first hand , I have also seen them used on fighting pitbulls and believe me they are not the silver bullet portrayed here , they are not suited for a pound for pound fighting endurance type contest , here they will hurt you because of the extra dead weight and heat they make , they are suited for 10 to 120 second explosive all out one time output , sports like sprints , short course swimming and powerlifting etc .
Did Roy use steroids lol , media hype and propaganda and a bunch of miss-informed people making wild statements based on zilch !Comment

How can you compare your usage of steroids on a dog to that of a professional boxer who is monitored carefully by a doctor.
anyone with half a brain knows that steroids are an advantage, which is why most athletes in the Us have done them at some stage.
Based on zilch? how about testing positive for steroids? thats pretty good evidence that roid jones was jucing. i agree with the topic starter, RJJ basically started getting ktfo when balco went bankrupt. His whole career is a sham.
he's the ben johnson of boxing.Comment

hmmm well i dont like pointing fingers at one person using steroids cause i end up pointing at everyone and that just relevels the playing field so i end up not having an argument. hey ben johnson used steroids and it took him a few years to run 9.79 for the 100meters alot of people said that was too fast for that time (1988 olympics) and thats what gave him away but the truth is sprinters had been using steroids for years but none of them ran that fast. It was realy a combination of the juice and his training methods that did the trick. If roy is/was jucing was he the only one? i think not and why werent the others as fast as he was? Any way until everyone is blood tested before after and during training camp we will never know for sure would we? and as for developing a glass chin when you stop jucing someone is just going to have to show the data from that experiment cause a punch in the head is a punch in the head and if you get hit well enough (especially when you are not looking) you are going to sleep.Last edited by jujuman; 07-20-2007, 07:35 AM.Comment

Haha Ripped fuel, yeah.
Roy tested positive 1 single time and he adamantly claimed it was from taking that supplement. If you must know it used to contain Androstenediol the anabolic steroid..............Roy has tested negative dozens of times just like any other boxer who is subjected to routine drug tests.
You're acting like he's James Toney who tested positive more than once and flat out admitted to using anabolic steroids.
Until I see more evidence I'm going to believe he tested positive as a result of taking that OTC supplement. What's even more sad are the haters that will claim "oh that's ignorant" the evidence is there. No no it's not.
Another case yet again is comparing him to Barry Bonds. There are several people who have admitted on camera that Barry has used illegal steroids and he was summoned before a jury to testify to that fact.
So.......when is Roy getting subpoena'd?

This is nothing new. I don't remember Roy ever being tied to Balco, however. But it's common knowledge that Roy juiced.
He tested positive for the fight with Richard Hall. But it was swept under the rug and he was allowed to retain his title with no penalties, because the fight was in Indiana (if I remember right). He claimed he tested positive because of "Ripped Fuel" - that was the big excuse. But the dramatic changes in muscle mass throughout his career tell another story.Comment

What changes?
How could they be as noticeable as Barry Bonds or Sammy Sosa who started off at 170 lbs and skinny............and ballooned to well over 220 stacked with muscle? I can't see the resemblance at all.

You guys are seriously dumb as ****.Ruiz isn't that much bigger than Roy and he didn't get hit too much at all that night only in the body. If he was on roids, it would've shown up in the piss test. Dropping that much weight is very very stressful to the body and he was very tired throughout the last half of the fight. Tarver caught him flush on the chin, it was a punch that Roy didn't see coming same thing with glen. Stop putting that **** on fighters just b/c they're successful doesn't mean they're on roids. Floyd's been dominating the Featherweight, Lightweight and part of the Welterweight class then moves up to 154 and fights oscar, is he on roids?? Hell no and I wouldn't accuse him of it.Last edited by Don Johnson; 07-20-2007, 07:50 AM.Comment

I mean, does anyone admit to using steroids when they're caught? There's ALWAYS an excuse. Even with Toney, his excuse was that he was prescribed them and didn't know what he was taking (a total joke). If we go by athlete's words, then there's like 5 professional athletes who have ever used steroids- lol.Haha Ripped fuel, yeah.

We've done picture threads before on this for years, and Roy's body has seemed to take on that "juiced" look of fluid-filled muscle mass for many of his fights at LHW. It's a look that people who spend a lot of time in gyms just get an eye for.Comment
