I am rooting for Boom2x to win. In order to beat Ponce, he needs to box. Against, Median, he got hurt bad. He was going forward all the time, exposing his head. He should keep at a distance.

Same sentiment here bro. If boom boom fights ponce the way he fought medina, he may be caught with a haymaker that would send him to kingdom come. Gerry left a blueprint on how to beat ponce but Rey is no gerry and rey has a suspect chin.

I think Ponce will win this as much as I'd root for Rey. Rey's chin sucks. I'm sorry but I've seen weak punches land on him and although he hides it well, he'll stop throwing for afew seconds to recover by just bouncing around on his feet looking like he wasn't hurt. Then we've seen him REALLY hurt afew times. He's been hurt and down before and I think it'll only take a known puncher to put him down for good like Deleon. I also think Rey is too green at this time for Ponce and although Ponce is wild, Rey's defense lacks and damn, how many punches did Ponce throw against Gerry? Almost 100 a round?

I've only seen Ponce fight once and it was the one against Penalosa. As for Boom-Boom Bautista, I've seen him fight about 3 times. Neither guy really impressed me.

I'm picking Ponce because of two things, he's a southpaw and a volume puncher. I do think De Leon's pop is not as great as advertised. Anyway, Boom-Boom has one weapon, the left hook, after that I don't what else he's good for. His left hook is not a homerun hitter either, more like 3rd base.
He needs to get it crackin' early, 'cause its hard to get back into a fight against a guy who throws loads of punches and runs around alot.

I think this should be a pretty exciting fight. what's the consensus on how good is it going to be (if there is consensus)

Yes...but that was against a more defensive and highly skill veteran in Gerry Penalosa. You think Rey is not gonna let any of those shots through? He's too green with leaky defense. You can't let a guy throwing KO bombs in every punch let them get through. I also think Bautista's power is overrated. He hasn't done much knocking out anyone cold lately and in his last fight, he knocked the guy down with a shot that looked devastating and the guy got back up unphased. We'll see how it goes but I'm not yet convinced about him.

The last guy you're refererring to was as tough as nails....That shot was flush with all Rey's body motion with it, but he still made it before the count of 10.

I don't think Ponce De Leon has that kind of toughness in him.I dont think he will get up if he was that guy who took that kind of a shot. The Penalosa fight exposed Ponce's toughness. Penalosa, athough known as one of the knockout artist in this part of the globe, is relatively smaller than Ponce but he manages to hurt him with shots that made him back pedalled. De leon, in that fight, was naturally bigger, stronger and known to be more hard hitter. But Penalosa made him think twice about mixin it up.

The first fight I saw Rey was against malaysian (i think) which was held here in the Philippines and the guy was knocked out with one punch. I was scared for that guy cause I thought he died right then and there. He was brought out of the ring in a stretcher unconcious. Rey has power no doubt.True that in the last couple of fights of Rey, his vaunted punching power was missin but hey, he move up in one weight division did'nt he. Of course, the fighters he is facin recently are bigger now. But he took them out with the accumulation of semi-power punches. It will take time for him to adjust.I hope in this fight he already did.As for De leon, he no doubt is a monster in the weight class. But the skill is yet to be proven. And again the heart to be in a gruelling fight. We have yet to see him in such a fight.

As a fan of Rey, I want him to win this one. But for the record, I believe that this is a give or take fight. The fighter who can take the punch of the other wins it. Definitely both of them will land their own power shots. It is he who stands up and continues to fight head on will win this.
