For the last three weeks, Felix Trinidad has been back in spotlight after it was revealed that he met in Puerto Rico with promoter Don King to plan a January 2008 return to the ring.
[details]
There's plenty of time for Roy to fight somebody with a pulse in October and then fight Felix in January. Roy getting a decent 3-fight winning streak would help the promotion big time, especially if he impresses in his next outing.
Call me crazy but if HBO PPV marketed the event (of course it would be a DKP production), I think this is capable of flirting with 1 million buys...
I bet we will see Roy back in the ring one more time this year. Not sure who he will fight, maybe he should fight Glen Johnson. If he won that fight he'd get people believing again.

I dnt think he'd risk fighting johnson again as the same may happen again.
i think he should fight someone who wont pose him to much trouble and cant hit that hard.

Your right, that would be risky. But if he won I think alot of Jones doubters who change their tune. But he wants that one last super fight and figthing Johnson could ruin it. One thing I will say though, did anyone else notice that Roy seems to have improved how he fights when facing alot of pressure? Roy fights back more effectivley off the ropes than use to. Against Johnson he just layed there it seemed. Against Hanshaw he was firing back. That was a great sign.
Roy has looked really good. And it seems as though he invites his opponents to let them strike first so he can get a taste of their power. I watched the Hanshaw fight and he hit Roy with some legit uppercutes and straight shots. It looks like his chin has improved if you can say that.
As far as Johnson he could beat him. He's still has his speed and man can he counter punch. It would be great redemption for Roy.
I do not see his next fight with Johnson, not because he is afraid of Johnson and a repeat ending, but insteadm the simply fact that a majority of people do not have an interest in seeing Johnson fight. He is not a household name and folks wont and dont watch him that often. I would liek to see him avenge the Johnson loss, but if it doesnt make dollars it wont make sense.
You cant teach an old dog new tricks, and we all know Roy has lived by countering, espeically off the ropes, which is what he did against Hanshaw. Hanshaw was busy the entire fight, but many shots were not landing, thus not scoring, so being busy can give the illusion of winning. Roy landed much cleaner, sharper punches and definitely more power shots. If Roy would stay off the ropes and in the center of the ring, it would have been a UD or a knockout.
I think he may fight Clinton Woods or Johnson next, with the winner of the Hopkins/Wright fight to follow but he said he was moving down to 168 so we will see.
He is right, he should do it quickly and he will not have any ring rust if he can do it withing the next 6 months. After the fight he mentioned fighting again in 3-4 months on the Gulf Coast...come back to FLORIDA!!!

Reason: misspellings

i told you guys, jones just got hanshaw mad at him cause he wanted to fight off the ropes, every boxer in the world thinks jones jr has a glass chin after the tarver fight, and they naturally will try to ko him soon, all this timme im sure roy has been practicing on how to fight off the ropes, cause if you see how he fought against tarver the 3rd time, he looked like ****...he cant fight in the center of the ring anymre, he's too scared of a big punch, so now hes trying to pick his shots on the ropes , get his attacker to retreat and thenn mount an offensive attack, honestly when hanshaw didnt come to roy, roy was hitting only air, only when hanshaw retreated after jones countered him on the ropes, did jones follow through with his attack in the center of the ring...
i actaully give jones a shot at beating johnson, johnson has been looking a little old in his last 2 fights...

sorry but i just don't see how rjj has any chance of beating johnson today. Johnson looked fantastic in his last outing and has clearly still not shown his age or any signs that he will soon show his age. Looking at how many shots Hanshaw was landing on Jones I don't see how he could deal with an even better pressure fighter like Johnson. Johnson would probably batter him to a TKO stoppage. I wouldn't wanna see this fight because I like both fighters alot. Prime Rjj owns any version of Johnson though
