    Williams Is Soooooooooooo Underrated?

Wow, I cant believe the shift on these boards. He went from alot of people starting to like him to being ripped on the regular and it happened pretty quickly. Listening to the stuff some people are saying on here makes me think there watching a different guy then what I saw.

1st off you hear alot that he wins because of his size. I disagree with that. Ofcourse his size gives him a huge advantage but the kid has skills. He's no ordinary fighter. He knows how to fight. Also, since when has he been the only big guy in boxing? You guys dont say that about other people. Size isnt just about height. At 140 Cotto was nearly twice as big as everyone he fought and you could argue that he wouldve lost a few fights if guys were his size. The same with Hatton. Some say that Williams only beat Margarito because of his size? What about Margarito? He's got a huge size advantage in nearly all of his fights but no one said anything then. Williams still fought within the weight limit. I dont care if he was 7ft tall. There have been plenty of super tall guys for there weight but most of them are average or stiffs who get KO. This kid has talent and he deserves respect.

The 2nd thing you hear is that he slaps with his punches and doesnt have the power to keep guys off him. Let me tell all of you fools something, you must have no eyes because there's 2 things your not realizing. 1st off Margarito is a monster. There is not one other fighter in that WW division who is going to walk through Williams punches and if you think so then your smoking. He wouldve stopped nearly everyone last night and the guys he didnt stop still wouldnt have made him sweat. I dont know how Margarito was doing it. People say dumb stuff like he doesnt throw with enough force all the time and he only gets KO's because of output? Duh and So! What difference does that make? There aint no fighter in history who can throw a 110 punches per round and load up on all of them. He is a volume puncher. Theres still no difference in the end. He may not have the one punch power that some guys have but his 2 punches will equal your 1 and if thats not enough then here are 3 more. Not many people can take all those quick snapping shots.

My thing about Williams is this. Those first 6 rounds you saw against Margarito is the real Williams and nearly everyone will have hell with that. What happened in those last 6 rounds was only because Margarito is a ****in monster. If you guys think that these other guys will walk through those punches like Margarito did, will wear him down like Margarito did, and will have Williams on the move like Margarito did then your smoking. Margarito is a ****ing huge guy his ownself and those are his kind of fights. Not just anyone can do that. Williams is also not a punk. Margarito just applied pressure that no one else can. Williams wont normally get tired, he wont normally get on the run, or anything else. It was just Margarito. Then I heard people say that he holds like Hatton and dumb ****. 1st off he didnt hold that much. 2nd, whenever he did hold he let go quick. It wasnt like Hatton who stays in a clinch forever or tries to hold you there and punch with the other hand. Williams did it for a second and then would let go and fire off a 5 punch combo. He also only did it because of Margarito. Again you guys arent giving him enough credit for what went on. Did Williams hold any the first 6 rounds? Has he held any in his career? He did that because he had no choice. He was tired and a little shook from the fact that Margarito was walking through his punches and coming even harder as the fight went on.

I saw the thread that had everyone picking Cotto over Williams. You guys are really overrating Cotto. Your not overrating the fact that he is good but this Division is talented. Im telling you right now that Cotto was not on neither of those guys level and Im talking about to the point where both guys not only wouldve won but would have destroyed him. Cotto has never fought guys like this. You guys arent understanding that. These guys are more talented then anyone he's ever fought while being twice the size as anyone he's ever fought. There real WW's and there probally even bigger then that. Its not the same as fighting ****ing Paulie, Quintana, or Zab. Its a whole different fight. Why the hell do you think Arum wont do it. I would put everything I have on a fight with Williams or Margarito that not only does Cotto lose but he gets straight up destroyed and doesnt finish the fight. The other part I left out is that alot of people think a guy like Cotto will knock him out. Did you guys see the shots he took from Margarito? Dude has a crazy chin. He aint going nowhere

Paul is good. He is good when he is fresh, sharp footwork and throws alot of punches. But in the later rounds this guy can be taken out. Margarito was hitting him with some monster body shots, I was suprised Paul was hanging in there. He is a tough kid but I do think he is not very stable on his feet and he can get knocked out by a properly placed punch. Cotto would beat him pretty good I think.

I agree he's catching hate for winning. And I would take him over Cotto if they were to get it on. He punches from all over the place. And those 6 to 7 beginning rounds were great. He outboxed Marg easily. And his movement was excellent. Everyone before the fight said he wouldn't commit to using his length well it looks like he did. And his stamina is very very good. Hard to belief he didn't ture much in the second half of the fight. And he faught like a ****in champ in the 12th. The kid is legit.

if u can win with the jab it's still a big fat "W"

but the guy is right about the clinching...
Hatton hardly gets warned about his clinching when he should have a point taken away or even disqualified!

Williams clinches strategically...he dishes out and locks up (happens a lot when the other fighter is coming forward or misses his punches)......then he spins his opponent or lets go quickly...either way he throws combos right after the clinch...Hatton holds and holds and holds and holds and never lets go!!!!!!!! it is so irritating to watch

Yeah but my point is that he will be fresh in the later rounds, its just that Margartio was a monster who took it out of him and walked through a ton of fire. I dont think Williams would look like that in the 2nd half of the fight against anyone else.

Cotto is a more concussive puncher then Margarito.

I think people aren't convinced because of his lack of power, and ability to take punishment. That was what I thought coming into the Margarito fight. Now Im convinced that he is the real deal.
