Then I thought he would against this 6'1 freak show lol. As slow is he is and as late as he fights, he still found some great openings and turned it on when he had to. Just too little too late, great fight though. I think the only thing Williams has goin for him at the welterweight division, is his height. He leaves himself open alot and slap boxes without enough power to fend off any of these top 5 in the division.

But yeah, high risk fight for Margarito and he still took it. He shoulda promised a fight with Paul after a fight with Cotto cause now its just up hill for him, even though he had great success against Williams, it wasnt enough to outshine Williams boxing. But it was probably enough to get Margarito a second chance later on to get to the top of the division. Not only that, but maybe now Margarito will realize he has to start fighting after the sound of the first bell, not 5 or 6 rounds into the fight.



Williams vs Cotto-

I dont think that slap boxing can fend off someone like Cotto, if Margarito can dig body shots, Cotto will turn that body into ground beef. I just dont think Williams is strong enough to fend off Cotto.

Williams vs Mayweather

I doubt Mayweather would take the fight lol, but if he did I dont think he could put Williams down, but I think he could pop shot Williams body for 12 rounds. But that fight would probably be just as boring as the Baldomir/Mayweather fight. I'd rather see Williams vs Mosley or Cotto.

Margarito still sucks compared to the top 3 welterweights. He wouldn't beat any of them. He doesn't have the speed or footwork to beat them. A Mayweather or Mosley would see his punches coming from miles away.

And I think Cotto might be able to KO or TKO Paul Williams. Cotto is much faster and does good body work and has a very good chin.

Although I agree that Margarito caught a lot of punches with his gloves, he still caught more with his face. I thought Williams did a good "Hatton" with his "Jab and Hold" routine, but he still won. I don't see any resemblance whatever to Tommy Hearns, who would have beaten Margarito to a pulp in his prime....

Reguardless, I think he showed last night how he got to the top of the rankings to begin with.

But yeah, if someone would polish him, and give him a slight hint of savy in the ring, I think he would better his chances in the ring. But I have a feeling he's like Jermain Taylor, no matter what you tell him, he wont change.

As for williams, I think this is gonna be the peak of his career if he doesnt put on some muscle and move up. Cause if Margarito can put work in on you, then most likely every other top 5 welter can too.

Marg is slow he had his moments but he didn't do enough to win complete rounds. Cotto could not knock out Williams in my opinion he's just too big and relentless at times. People should give him credit for some of the shots he's taken in a lot of his fights and he's kept coming.

He definantly had to take an L for this one, he didnt even fight for half of the bout. But I was shocked at how successfull he was when he actually turned it on. I was watchin like "lol oh ****, margaritos pissed."
