Hatton is a tough kid. He's pretty fast on the move too, so why count him out after just one fight in the WW division?
He is small, but so is Toney in the Heavys...

He should be interested in challenging himself to the absolute limit, and not playing it safe just to hold a title. I think he should move up and take on the best he can. Win, lose, draw; It's more satisfying for Ricky if he knows he pushed himself to the limits and can look back on his career without thinking "what if"..

Only guy Hatton could beat at welter is Gatti. Against a top 10 fighter, it's pick'em at best. Anyone who thinks Hatton would be a factor at 147 must think really highly of Collazo who got dominated by Mosley...

I agree $iN, but it turns out the Welters aren't half as good as advertised. Paul Williams in feather fisted and uncoordinated, Marg is slow as ****, Gatti is retired.

        Mayweather, DLH, Shane, Cotto

        after that there's a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE drop-off

Maybe. I just feel Hatton is overrated because there is absolutely no talent at 140. You think the drop off in talent is big at welter? Then consider how far the quality in talent drops past Hatton at 140. Now that is what I consider HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. At 147, Hatton is a lower top 10 fighter. He would not be a solid favorite over any top 10 fighter at 147, not even in a Collazo rematch...

You think so? O would say it's fairly solid across the board. Marg would have knocked out a lot of guys last night. And I think a lot of poeple knew he was already slow.

Williams I knew he wouldn't knock out Marg. Because he's the type of fighter that takes a toll on you. And his output is so high he porbably doesn't commit all of his power to one shot. But for the most part you are right he doesn't have that much power. And then you have Clottey an unknown to most but he has great tools offensively and defensively. And Mosley, Cotto, and DLH. That's solid to me. Not trying to argue just wondering.

Hatton can use whatever excuse he wants, but he's going down soon and his mouth will be shut. He turned down an opportunity to fight Mayweather at 140, so nobody is going to care when he cries about not being a welterweight after losing.

The title of the thread i would disagree. Collazo didnt beat him because Hatton is tough. Hatton is giving his opponents an advantage at 147 but he could still beat any of the 147 guys on his day.
Hatton wont go down as the greatest 147 in history we can all agree on though.

I agree here as well. 140 is not a strong division. Hatton would be a pick 'em with the second tier of welters, and would hardly stand a chance with the four I mentioned.

I simply expected more from both Marg and Williams; I can say good things about Williams and he deserves it, but he wasn't as good as I expected.

Margarito is the most overrated fighter of the last decade. He is garbage. I think Williams is a very good fighter. I don't know what you were expecting from him last night. He did what he always does...

The only fighters out of the welters that Hatton would have a chance at (at 147) is Baldomir, possibly Cotto and funny enough possibly Mayweather. He would not last more than 5 or 6 rounds against Cintron, Margarito, or Williams.

It has been a while since I have seen a division so deep with top fighters.
