I'm so glad that Taylor is stepping up in competition and fighting Pavlik. I believe that Mayweather is one of the most overrated boxers in the world today (along with Ricky Hatton) and I fully expect Pavlik to administer a world class beating come September 29th. I mean......the best that Taylor has looked was his fight against Wright and that turned out to be the lone blemish on his record. My prediction......Pavlik by KO in the 9th.

I hope you're not comparing Taylor with Mayweather. Taylor has been fighting blown up welterweights and junior middleweights and has looked terrible. I'm not a huge Mayweather fan....but I don't understand how he can be considered overrated when he's steamrolled the competition for more than a decade now. Let's take a look at his resume.....Genero Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Justin Juuko, Gregorio Vargas, Emanuel Augustus, Diego Corrales, Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Chavez, Jose Luis Castillo, Philip Ndou, Demarcus Corley, Arturo Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah, Carlos Baldomir, and Oscar De La Hoya. These are a few of the names on his record. And although a lot of these boxers aren't superstars in the sport, they're all very good. Overrated? No. Underappreciated? Probably. One of the pound-4-pound greatest of all time? Absolutely.

You're entitled to your opinion as I am mine. I know I'm not the only person who sees a fundamental lack of dedication on Jermain Taylor's part. He's becoming a middleweight Mayweather, concerned about money first and being taken seriously second. His comments after the Spinks fight about Pavlik show that very case.

I don't doubt genetics play a role any fighter's weight management but a certain amount also comes from solid dedication, something fighters like Hopkins and Hagler embodied throughout their careers. Something Taylor will never embody.

Taylor's camp says he struggled to make weight against Spinks, which in all affected his performance. Obviously he could have done more against Spinks. He probably didn't have the energy to go after him. Who knows. If Taylor can't make 160 he needs to give up the belt and go to 168. He needs to be in top shape to beat Pavlik.
