Rafael on Mayweather: "Beating Mosley would mean more than beating Hatton"

Was looking through the comments from Dan Rafael's P4P list. Here's what he says about #1 P4P Floyd Mayweather:

Hits: At last, Mayweather finally has backed off his ludicrous talk of retirement by coming out and publicly saying that he's interested in fighting Ricky Hatton this fall after Hatton spent a lot of the promotion for his June 23 fight against Jose Luis Castillo insulting Mayweather. Hey, whatever works, right? Even if Mayweather-Hatton doesn't come to pass, you can be sure Mayweather will box again, and that's good for the sport.

Misses: Why is Mayweather so interested in Hatton, a smaller, slower opponent, instead of the bigger, more competitive match with Sugar Shane Mosley? Beating Mosley would mean more than beating Hatton.

Rafael also has Mosley at #10 P4P. Hatton is not in his top 10 P4P.
What do you think of his comments?

fake Floyd returning to boxing is bad for boxing.

Boxing doesn't need that ducking fake.

hatton is undefeated and in his prime and he has the style to beat maywather. he will come right at him and hit and hold. mayweather cant handle real pressure like that. mosley will try to just box with him and i dont think thats the way to beat him. he should fight hatton.

I’ve never really thought highly of Rafael as a boxing writer because of ‘out of touch’ views he has like this one. Hatton is one of the biggest names out there, next to Cotto, in the ww division and his ‘star power’ that attracts a huge fan following will make this one of 2007’s biggest “super fights.” Plus, after DLH Hatton practically ensures that Mayweather will earn a very lucrative purse for this fight that he otherwise wouldn’t get with Mosley…

I agree with Dan, the fight should be made already. Mosley has the best chance to beat Mayweather.

mosley's so long in the tooth that i can only disagree w/ dan and say that now, hatton IS the more competitive of the two. mosley has shown to do NOTHING when frazzled or discouraged in bouts, which he will be against floyd. hatton on the other hand hasn't shown anything near that and would display more of a heart to keep hunting floyd down.

however, hatton and mosley both catch L's to floyd.

                  And whos Dan Rafael exactly?

Hatton has beaten two all-time greats in massive fights, can sell 200,000 PPV's in Britain alone, can bring 10,000 fans over the ocean, is a former Ring Magazine fighter of the year, unified champion and two-weight world champion who has won world titles abroad, and has the longest unbeaten record in boxing. And his style is thee contrast to Mayweather in and out of the ring. Mosley makes no sense compared to Hatton. Two undefeated pound-for-pounders going at it, nothing quite like it, esp when it's been brewing for four years.

Mosley will be 36 by September.

                    forget styles for a second.

Mayweather would be ripped for fighting a 36 years old, whose last title fight victory was highly controversial (DLH 2) and the previous one is in 2001 (before he met Forrest).

Hatton is unbeaten, young and IMO has the right style to make Mayweather fight.
