Hell no. GBP made an offer to Pongsalek about 1 or 2 years ago to fight Arce in the U.S.. The initial $$ figure that was verbally thrown at Pongsalek was somewhere between 350k to 250k. When it came to signing on the dotted line GBP was just bluffing and the real offer was somewhere between 35k - 25k.

Pongsalek and mgmt laughed and said we can continue doing what we've been doing making just as much. These weren't the exact words . but I read this in a Ringside article they did on Pongsalek.

Bottomline. If you ain't talkin' real $$$, then you ain't makin' sense.

Not off hand but his stuff runs in Ring and he has an all Asian boxing blog. I can look for some later.

Now when it seems a solid fighter like Donaire can fight Wonjonkam and it makes sense because both are from countries that are close to each other, the fight doesn't seem to be happening as well. It really does seem Pongsakelek and his promoter are just fine fighting inferior opponents. I wish just once he would fight a credible opponent at this stage in his career.

Your right I did read that somewhere else or another poster said that. I've never seen Sakata fight so I wouldn't really know how good he is, but he's ranked ahead of Donaire in Rafael's rankings on Espn.com, so I'll take Dan's word for it that he's pretty good. Either way now lets hope that Wonjongkam fights either Sakata or Donaire next after he beats up this guy he's destroyed two times already.

Sakata is very good and just won the best fight of 2007 against Vasquez.
