Is Chad Dawson the guy old Roy fans are flocking to now?

I liked Roy back in the day, and am a big fan of Chad Dawson, but I'm not sure I see a connection between the two, other than that they're both Black and train out of Florida.

Roy relied on speed, reflexes and natural talent, had his moments during his prime but for the most part cherry-picked his way through his career and to this day is an egomaniac.

Chad offers the full arsenal in every fight, keeps getting better even as his competition progresses, always seeks the top fights, and is easily among the sport's more humble warriors.

Well in comparison, both Roy then and Dawson now hold significant edges in reflex and athleticism over their opponents. Dawson is much more technical, Roy unorthodox. Dawson has every punch in the book though. His jab is a thing of beauty.

Well, most of the biggest Roy fans have confirmed my su****ion. Is this really just coincidence? I bet Super_Lightweight is a big fan of Dawson's too. I'm not poking fun or accusing people of anything. This is strictly observation, which has turned out to be 100% correct thus far.

Not sure if there's a link but I like Roy and yes I'm a Dawson fan. But Dawson is more of a true boxer with more of a punch out put. But the superior speed to opponents combined with reflexes could welcome comparisons.

You're all saying things I already knew, no offense. I'm just asking if Roy fanboys know why they like Dawson so much. Is it because light heavy is a big division where the fighters pack a punch yet can still demonstrate amazing skill unlike most cruiserweights and pretty much all heavyweights? I've always liked light heavys like Spinks and Moore and even Jones. So maybe liking the division factors into it although I guess it's safe to say everybody likes SOME fighters in every division.

But there is definitely a connection between liking Jones and liking Dawson.

but people try to draw the same parallels in concluding that Roy fans are also Floyd fans, or of Whitaker. Of those three, Roy was the only one I regularly rooted for.

I never rooted for Whitaker; hell I even rooted for DLH against him, one of only three times I've ever rooted for Oscar(the others being against Mayorga and Vargas). I root for Floyd on occasion, but to call myself a fan is a stretch.

As to your other question (about people being a fan of skilled light heavies) - I was actually a much bigger fan of the middleweight/super middle version of Roy tha the cherry-picking light heavyweight version.

Yes Im definetly a fan of Dawson.

And whoever made the comment about Roy not fighting people, many of them denied fighting.. not much he can do about that.
