Is Chad Dawson the guy old Roy fans are flocking to now?

I think he's a very solid fighter who has impressed me the three times I've seen him. Even though he's a southpaw and fights a pretty conventional fight, something about him reminds me of Roy Jones. I have a feeling all the old Roy fans are going to get behind this guy big time, especially if he keeps winning. Is Dawson the Roy replacement at light heavyweight? Will they be saying he's the most skilled fighter in years a couple months from now?

im a roy fan and right now hes one of the few young guys i like(cotto, malignaggi and him.....), but i wouldnt say he is similar to Roy........

I'm not really saying he's similar to Roy actually. I'm just noticing that everyone that worshipped Roy on here is now infatuated with Dawson. Nothing wrong with it at all, just noticing.

I'd say that's pretty true as well. Taylor and Floyd are about as different as you can get in terms of attitude and fighting style.

I like Dawson, I could never fully support Roy because of the fights he didn't make (Calzaghe, etc.) and he was too ****y.

Dawson doesn't get a lot of talk on here, but he's going to be hard to beat.

If Calzaghe lands with Showtime Dawson would make a classic fight for him, much better than bothering with Taylor.

Who are these Roy worshipers that are suddenly infatuated with Dawson? Dawson gets little conversation on this board if anything. What's not to like though? I think people want to see another supremely talented American fighter who can dominate the higher weights. Roy fans attracting to Dawson is little more than coincidence.

Since Super Middleweight all the way up through Heavyweight is largely dominated by European fighters, Dawson provides a worthy figure to root for. This kid has the goods regardless.
