other than the mccall fights (i dont class the 2nd as a geniune win and he was KO by him the first time) he beat all the big men put in front of him at least once, and the vitali victory was legit, i didnt notice anything wrong with his gloves.
Explain something about Lewis.

How come every fighter that holds gets criticized for doing it.........but I never heard anyone point to maybe the biggest clincher of all time In Lennox Lewis?
How about you re watch his fights and you'll see how bad it was. All he did was push the jab, hold........push the jab and then throw a right behind it. Occasionally he'd throw a right cross to the body (which was his best punch in fact, see what it did to Tua and McCall both cringed when it landed). Also there was a moment where he'd throw a couple of uppercuts but guess what? Right after he was done clinching.
My point is there seems to be a double standard about that.
I said the same about Hopkins, right after everyone was on Hatton's case abotu holding. Hatton nor Hopkins hold 100% of the time....but they use it whilst gutting their opponent.Comment

Ugh.Strange! because it only happened once, not twice!!!!! Even then he was up on his feet at 10 and not lying on his back for 5 minutes like jones. He was up at 6 versus mcall. Wlad went down to sanders and got a 14 second count!!!!!! he then fell back down without another significant punch landing!!!!! he was knocke dout by the first sanders knockdown.
He was up and then started doing a saturday night fever travolta dance against McCall. He was clearly out on his feet and couldn't continue the fight. Also, now this has just become a ridiculous thread about Wlad v.s. Lewis when my intentions were never for it to be that way.
haha funny **** I knew it would happen.
How come Lennox holds?
OMFG BECAUSE HE FOUGHT EVERYONE HE WAS A GREAT CHAMPION

partly to due to the fact he is retired, if he was still active, he'd receive a lot of hate on this board, plus his 'holding' was grossly exaggerated, IMO. Iv'e seen a lot worse.....How come every fighter that holds gets criticized for doing it.........but I never heard anyone point to maybe the biggest clincher of all time In Lennox Lewis?

Lennox did hold a lot in some fights, it wasn't THAT bad though, not on a Ruiz level. He would mostly tie people up on the inside to set up his jabs and straights. I don't think that Wlad clinches excessivly a lot, I give the heavyweights a little more way when it comes to clinching because everyone does it. Being tall fighers both of them tie up on the inside to get it back to their distance. I do have problems when both fighters are just clinching for no reason. Part of the reason Lennox doesn't get critisized for it also is the fact that he is retired, during his prime Lennox wasn't that well liked because he didn't have that "exciting" of a style. He wasn't liked in the US because he was "british" and he wasn't liked in the UK by some because he was "Canadian". However just like Whitaker who many like now, once the fighter retires people recognize their achievments. It will probably be like that for Wlad and PBF once they hang em up.Comment

I can partially understand holding/clinching at the heavyweight level but not at the 140's when Hatton turns it into a hug-fest.
Lennox had a great style for the sport not for the fans and the entertainmentComment
