Not surprisingly, you think this is one of the best eras in HW history. Probably because white guys are dominating the diviison, since it's clear you have something against black fighters. You are clearly delusional...
No, !! SiN, I have nothing against anybody. If I hated fighters of a certain race or nationality I would be creating threads to discredit them, but I never do that. Or I would ridicule them on my avatar or sig, but I never do that.
I have a bet going for 5000 points that one of your favorites, Williams, will defeat Margarito. None of the fighters I root for were even born in the same continent as myself! The heavyweight division is more interesting because there's more international diversity than before. I choose to live in a city where more than half the people are from other countries...
It is becoming abundantly obvious to everyone that you hate boxers of a certain race, and that's what this thread is really all about...
The HW division today is clearly the worst in the entire history of the sport of boxing. It is absolutely pathetic that a guy like Lamon Brewster was even considered a top 10 fighter in the division but he was. He is a former WBO champion, but he couldn't land a single significant punch against Klitschko. It was an absolute mismatch. Brewster has no skill whatsoever.
Then we have Ibragimov as a titleholder when he was lucky to get a draw with the trash known as Ray Austin. Austin was destroyed in 2 rounds by Klitschko with no effort and this scrub was lucky to come away with a draw with the very same fighter just one fight earlier and now he's heavyweight champion?
The HW division today is a total joke...
thanks!! i keep my mouth shut about this because of all the squirrley kids on this site... hvwt division is pathetic. i mean even third tier ibragamov has a chance.

Other than Ali/Foreman, and likely Frazier= no one from the sixties or 70s' could ko or beat Brewster.MAYBE Shavers, but Quarry exposed him easily...he would not expose Brewster easily
I'll reserve Judgement till i see this Klit-Brewster 2 fight.
But of course you have a point, How Ray Austin got a title shot ill never know, i saw his draw against ibragimov and they both look like cack to me, not impressed at all.
I mean friggin Maskaev should never be a champ in any era, i used to watch this guy on eurosport i think, he's nothing and the fact that he is a champ says alot about this heavyweight division.
Lets put it this way, when a fat James Toney who started his career at 160, should have beaten (according to most, i havent seen the fight) one of the most dangerous punchers in the division, you know we are in a bad era,
Even when Lewis was on top it was nothing special. now with him gone its even worse.
You can select Maskaev, as a name that would not be champ...I can say Jimmy Ellis and Jimmy Young would get killed by these guys today, especially Wlad now.as big as they are, ..Yet Young beat Foreman...hmmmmm

are you ****ing kidding me dude? brewster is absolute garbage. he has no defense, no footwork, he's not exactly special. in my opinion he is a journeyman in any other era and only a champ in this one, nothing more.

Yeah, yeah, as expected.
Did you even see Brewster's fights besides this one?
Did you even see Brewster's fights besides this one?
I don't think so.
you are right, haven't seen other ones, but i mean come on, the guy can't keep his hands up, does not know how to close the distance at all among other things. i hear that he was behind on the cards against other not so heralded fighters. plus i heard he lost to etienne and some other loser. lets put etienne and that other loser up there with ali, frazier and foreman as guys that can beat brewster.
I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's, the "Golden Era" of heavyweight boxing, and watched most of those legendary fights on ABC's Wide World of Sports, and let me tell you something.....they said the same thing then, only the "Golden Era" they were talking about back then was back in the 30's, 40's, and 50's, and even the early 60's. In fact, I can't remember a time when people weren't bitching about the heavyweight division. They were saying the same **** back when Tyson was marching through the heavyweights, and then unified...."He wouldn't be able to do this back in the day, he'd be KO'd by (insert legendary heavyweight here) in the first minute of the fight".
Well, I thought it sounded silly then, and do now, too. In fact, this may be one of the least "****ty" divisions I remember. It's not the best, but certainly not what everyone is claiming. I think that, on any given day, there are at least a dozen fighters who could beat any one of the other dozen at the toss of a coin. The only one who's probably not going to get beaten any time soon is Wlad Klitchko (or his brother...I really don't think there's anyone alive who can KO that guy, and you can't beat him any other way), and there's almost always been a single ruling power in the divion. Foreman, Ali, Tyson, Lewis, etc.
The only thing that bothers me about the heayweight division is the lack of activity. Other than that, I like it just fine. Not as good as some of been, maybe, but not bad at all.
