Before that happens there needs to be more interest in the sport and fights like these bring in the fans.

Fights like these will get the big names to fight each other because they will see how much more money there is to be made fighting each other. The money generated will also attract young athletes to the sport since they will see the opportunities available compared to other sports as well. PPV is here to stay for now so we will have to accept that.
A fighter should be paid well, but its just silly numbers, you honestly think PPV is good for the sport? Yes i do think every fight should be shown free it, it brings more people to the sport having to pay $55 to watch just over half a hour's worth of entertainment is a joke. Advertising would bring in just as much money for such a fight and more people would be into boxing. Fights like these will bring in fighters fighting for money and not legacy. I believe big fights should be seen by everyone and as many people as possible, paying thousands of money for a ticket for such a fight is shocking and the only people who pay are the real fight fans. The atmosphere would be better and you won't see some idiot on his mobile phone not even watching the fight.

You are probably just a kid. When you grow up, you'll have the cash to go to most fights. You don't expect to get tickets to the Super Bowl, World Series, or NBA Finals cheap, do you?
Sport shouldn't be about who ever has the most money will be able to watch, it should be for real fans, better atmosphere. That's a big problem with American sports not enough real fans get to watch there team. Just thob me off as some kid who can't afford to go if you, but I can but i see the overall picture and charging people silly money is only going to put people off.

The prices for boxing events can be high but are by no means hurting the sport in any way shape or form.

Ofcourse it's hurting the sport, if you think back to how popular boxing was before PPV came into play and now, you soon see the difference. Most fights struggle to even fill a stadium nowadays before they would sell out big arena's.

So everyone should be entitled to the same things? Are you a communist?

I dropped over $600 to get 2 tickets for Margarito-Williams next week. If you were a true fan, you would have no problem paying good money to see a good fight...

Ali was fighting PPV in his day. Nothing new...your saying boxing isnt as popular as it was when Ali was kicking it?

So you would rather watch a half empty arena full of mostly rich people, low viewing figure's, less exposure to boxing, no atomosphere fight

                or

A sold out 30,000 arena, cheap tickets and to a much wider audience bring more fans to boxing with a fantastic atmosphere and full of as many fight fans as possible.

No way can a average joe be spending that sort of money that gets banded about without saving for it, majority of people arn't rich and can't afford to pay for a couple of fights for $100 on the TV to go with other bills.

I'm going to see The Police and tix are like 150.00 for **** seats. Same thing for boxing...price wise. PPV's are like 45.00...see it live for 150.00. Thats not all that bad.

You rent movies on OnDemand for 3.99 @ home...you to the theatre for like 10.00ish. Its all relative.

Its not boxing...its the economy. If you wanna see the best you gotta pay extra...or one can always go to a local show and see good fights for like 25-50/usd. If ya cant afford that...then you shouldnt be trying to see shows on your EBT card...know what I mean?
