one of the biggest problems i feel with some of the heavyweight is they dont seem to get them self's into great shape, guys like brock and peter would be better if they could lose a bit of weight.

ibragimov looks a great fighter, really quick and dynamic, then theres wlad and vitali, chagaev, maskaev - just because they are all white europeans the americans say the division is crap

also, david haye will be a star. had one shock defeat a couple of years ago but has come back a lot stronger and mature. lets be honest if vlad and vitali werent related or were prepared to fight each other and were both yanks itd be hyped in the US as one of the biggest fights in ****in years

        Great article..

I would only agree and at the same time disagree with Maskaev being the # 3 (or was it 4) guy.

The part of me that agrees is that IMO Maskaev is very underrated.
After watching his fight with Tua on YouTube.. he had Tua schooled for 11 rounds and had the fight in the bag. But than the inexperienced Maskaev, decided to go after Tua and got himself KTFO! He has better than average or even good skills... It's just that he has been mismanaged all of his carrier.

Oh and BTW... When others give him absolutely no chance and have already decommissioned him as a titlist.. I may be crazy, but I give him more than a slim chance against Peter.

There's no 'renaissance' unless these guys who have the belts start fighting each other and being more active. You have to say the division dramatically lacks depth when Ray Austin is getting mandatory title defenses, politics has alot to with this crap.

The Klitschkos are not the future of the heavyweight division, they are nothing more than a footnote in the long history of the sport. The future is in the hands of young guys like Denis Boytsov. It is up to Boytsov to be exciting enough to bring the fans back to boxing. That is a heavy responsibility for a young guy to bear, but he has the talent to do it. Too bad he is not getting better training.

As dumb as this newbie's post sounds Pototoes, he may have a point.

Barring no injuries or big upsets, I could see W. Klitschko ruling the hw division for another 3-5 years....

                  What's say you?

Knowing Wlad he'll lose it once or twice more, but with his tools he'll be able to get the titles back as well. I expect Wlad to be on and off champr for six or seven more years.

I don't know if I'm overly optimistic or not but, I don't see Wlad losing again in his career against any of the current crop of heavies. Maybe Sam Peter gives him a good run for his money but ultimately I think Wlad prevails.

On your second point, I think Wlad stays around for another 5 years and then hangs em up. He's a veteran of 51 professional fights now and I think another 6-7 years may be pushing it. Wlad's a smart enough fellow to know the longer he stay's in this game the higher the risk to get hurt.
