The majority of succcessful amateurs who turned pro have gone on to successful careers.
Some only reached the status of contenders, like Abdullaev or Seales, but they still made some decent money as well as earning title shots.

A Gold Medal pretty well guarentees big signing bonus's for the pro ranks,
& unless you totally stuff things up by becoming a heavy drug addict & blowing repeated easy fights, you pretty much have a guarenteed title shot.

It obviously means a great deal in the sport of amateur boxing because it is the highest achievement.

There have been many medalists who have gone on to be good pro's(Roy Jones springs to mind) and there are many amateurs who didn't or couldn't turn pro who perhaps could have made it.

Example: Felix Savon, Teófilo Stevenson and Guillermo Rigondeaux.

But as GunStar has pointed out being a gold medal winner doesn't guarantee success in the pro's!

I respect anyone who wins a medal in the Olympics!!! But it doesnt always mean the best boxer won!!! Some guys are made for the pros!!! Alot of guys who lost in the olympics have gone to have better careers then the guy who won gold!!!

You went on to say in the opening post Olympic Gold Medal winners like Lacy, Arreola and Povetkin "suck ass"...

It sounds like you're bitter and hateful toward boxers, McNulty - did you dream of a boxing career, and then fail to accomplish anything? Did you dream of winning an Olympic Gold medal, but you just weren't good enough to even participate?

Arreola and Lacy never won Olympic Gold, why did you post in your "Jack ****" thread that they won Gold and "suck ass"?
