I became a diehard boxing fan after playing Fight Night Round 2. Seriously I did.
for me it was the wide world of sports shows that hooked me. I watched casually before that, But it was the Marlon starlings,Mark brelands, Haugen, Mcguiggan, Qawi and many others that really got me started!
My grandfather was a golden gloves champion and my father raised me around the equipment and TV fights.. I reisisted a little, to distance myself from "my dad's thing" and participated in martial arts as a permissable alternative.
I always fooled around with Boxing, and followed the sport on a more casual level - but about 10 years ago I got seriously involved on my own terms.
Who can resist Boxing?
It's the most beautiful game there is.
And it's a thinking man's game.. I was always a thinker.
My uncle was a top welterweight boxer in Britain in the 1930's. Although I watched boxing a little as I was growing up in the late 60's and 70's (Ali, Foreman, Holmes) I became more interested after being very impressed watching Wladimir Klitschko win Gold in the 1996 Olympics. I still wasn't a hard core heavyweight fan until around 2000 when Wlad first won the WBO title. Then in 2005 I discovered a new favorite, Ricky Hatton, and so I started following weight classes other than heavyweight.
