    That's bull****.

Hatton's got a ****ed up clinch that isn't effective at all. UFC is all about the elite clinch fighters.

At least Roy was reasonable when he talked about himself in the UFC. He knows that the ground game is a whole different game and that if somebody tried to trade with him it would be game over.

Instead, they bicker because they are greedy. And in doing so, they rob themselves a big payday, and more importantly, they rob the fans of GREAT fights.
exactly they need to bring back the old format from the 70s and have what you call TV fighters! thats what UFC did so well the majority of guys on TUF are not top calibre but they bring some form of excitement to grasp the audience. Arum used to have a show where he showcased guys who would do nothing but put on exciting brawling fights. Roy jones jr is right the people want to see a fight win lose or draw.

thats why i miss roberto duran and those kinda guys..but to be honest its the boxing fans they got more snobby they give up on ther fighter if they lose one match even if he put on the fight of his life.

i respect a guy who fights win lose or draw...thats why i gave paulie malignaggi his respect even though he has no power and is a boxer he fought his ass off against cotto taking a beating breaking his jaw, but he didnt quit.

I may showing my age, but I remember ABC's Wide World of Sports! It was on Saturdays and they often had boxing on it. And not just club fighters either. And you know how much bigger boxing was at that time too. Now you have to have AT LEAST cable to get boxing, back in the day ABC, CBS, NBC all had it on free TV quite often. And championship fights were actually FREE!

Your right in that UFC got a TON of new fans by putting that TUF show and older UFC cards on SpikeTV, which is just basic cable. Boxing's strategy of just bashing UFC is failing, they need to change THEIR tired-ass ways of doing business and get with the times.

As for RJJ, I remember even in his prime he liked to fight in Pensacola rather than Vegas or Atlantic City. He liked his hometown fans to get to see him and to get to see the up-and-comers on the undercards.

            ya man its a shame!
to be honest with you the ppv is the one that killed boxing also your made a good point with roy jones jr fighting in his hometown.

They need to bring boxing back like that where they would put a few big fights in areas that didnt get boxing often and sell out the arena because they would make sure the tickets were affordable if you have a 30 thousand seat staduim and price the tickets from 25 to 150 bucks you will surely sell out the staduim because the prices are affordable.

now boxing tickets cost 75-3,000 dollars.

Greed messed up boxing big time.

That's why when you create a product you run it the way you want it. I'm sure the people who created boxing had no intention of it eventually being full of money hungry bastards who can't be satisfied with 20 mill.

Think about the NFL's meteoric rise to the number one sport in America, and how the salaries compare now vs. 15 years ago. UFC is gaining momentum, but if the salaries for the top guys don't increase, you will see guys jumping ship to some of the other MMA companies.

All it takes is one rich decision maker to offer a guy like Liddell or Jackson or someone of that ilk more money and they will jump ship. It may not happen in the immediate future, but if UFC keeps getting bigger, all of MMA will benefit and some fighters will join Ortiz's complaining about salaries.
UFC is the richest MMA organization. The UFC gets paid by sponsors. Trust me, the UFC has money and fighters are getting paid more and more. Top fighters are up to half a million dollars right now compared to 100K back a few years ago or even last year.

MMA is quickly becoming like that. It seems every week a new channel is comming out with their own brand of MMA.
