Why don't fighters watch tapes of their opponents anymore?

A lot of the fighters I know of today don't really watch tape of their opponent. I think Hopkins does but many don't. The fighter relies all on their trainer. Floyd says he doesn't watch tapes of his opponents. I just read on Paul Williams he doesn't either. He lets his trainer do the work. Didn't fighters in the past watch tapes of the guys they have to fight? Why the change?

Maybe they lie? I know Wlad does, its part of his training regiment.

I mean I doubt Mayweather doesnt......Its crucial to know your opponent.....its not like your first 6 pro fights.

Your just saying that cause Mayweather said he doesnt. Everyone doesnt follow what Mayweather does. So dont assume, thats what it looks like your doing.

They probably do. Anyhow, you can usually tell the tempermant of a fighter by one single fight. And boxing is more of a sport where most of the time the better man wins. The better man is able to adapt to any situation.

Yeah I'm sure Floyd does he just doesn't admit it. But a lot of fighters rely on their trainer to do it for them.

Some fighters prefer to not change their approach to a fighter and just came out and fight "their fight"."

They'll say, "let the other fighter adapt to me. I'm going to do what I do best and what got me here."

Fighters in the old days didnt have film to watch. I believe Mayweather when he says he doesnt.
