Well, considering most of the fighters in the UFC have college degrees. And are black belts in alive martial arts, or Olympic medalists. Also, are some of the MOST skilled real fighters in the world. So yeah, watch the UFC if you want to see "useless street punks" having "a tussle", aka. a REAL FIGHT.

MMA and Boxing. Like I have said - apples and oranges. You cannot compare the two. I personally like both but I am a bigger boxing fan. I feel like boxing stars are bigger then UFC stars because they are usually larger then life personalities. I think UFC does a bad job at marketing there top athletes. The only guy that is catered that I can think of is Rampage Jackson. Other then that...they do not market there top guys very well.

ANd in regards to which sport is "tougher", the easy answer is boxing. These guys take shot after shot with a padded glove. That is a recipe for a serious brain condition later on. These MMA guys train half the time in BJJ and Wrestling and they work on submissions. How many times have you seen a fight end in a submission where not much ground and pound was used, but the winner was just that much better on the ground. Plenty. Most of the time in boxing fans a guy the loser takes alot of punishment over twelve rounds, or they got knocked unconcious. Period.

Man, I really love the Pride fighting events, that is the most exciting and highly skilled mma I have ever seen.

I love boxing just as much as you do, but that was a very ignorant statment to make. I think in the early days of the UFC it was pretty common to get some guys with very sketchy credentials. If the first ten or so UFC's are all you have ever watched I can understand why you would hold that opinion.

I haven't watched an entire UFC in years, I only see some of the fights posted on youtube these days. The point is, that the fighters of today are very well conditioned athletes that know they must have a well-rounded fighting capability to win. Many of those guys have spent years learning different styles of martial arts to compete in a sport they love.

I agree with you. Pride fighters are extremely skillful athletes. IT seems the UFC caters to white wrestlers. I mean, you have skilled fighters like GSP, BJ Penn but these guys are behind guys like Gomi, Fedor, heck even Henderson. Pride fighters are the best in the world.

A man needs a 19th degree black belt in Kung Pooey Dooey to just stand there and get kicked in the head. What marvelous athletes they are!

Like someone said earlier, they are professional athletes. You may not like their sport, but they are athletes. Period

What's so funny? You said that MMA was more dangerous because you could die in the ring, and cited Ali as evidence that boxers do not die in the ring. But there have been many deaths in the boxing ring and none in any MMA bout. That tells you two things: Safety is a bigger concern in MMA than it is in boxing, and boxing is more dangerous because of this lack of concern for safety.
