a young tyson was absolutely amazing... he had superhuman power, breathtaking speed, he was so scientific, he'd work the body, and had great head movement along side his defense.... it's a shame how his career turned out, so much potential

he was so dedicated in training that is how be became so good In my opinion.
his dedication came from a need to be loved by d'mato this made him easily manipulated and turned into the 'phenom' he was!

his ring intelligence was somewhat lacking

i believe foreman was mo0re physically gifted but no where near as technically gifted!

I do not know him personally, but I will hold my judgment on that.

Just think, Tyson had a criminal mind and despite being caught a bunch of times, he was supposed to be real good at it, even waiting until you know what he was going to do, just for his own kicks.

The man supposedly has an Encyclopedia of knowledge in boxing history. There are people who have been alive a lot longer than him who are supposedly "Boxing Historians" that may not even compare.

For athletics: he was able to train his mind to respond at such quick speed that I bet a person of "average" intelligence would not be able to do. You have to be able to think fast, anticipate what the opponent is going to do, dodge the punch, see the opening, and then respond all while keeping a close eye on incoming danger.

When Tyson's mind was stimulated, it was something else.

Tyson also admitted he is the type of person that when he accomplishes something, he wants/needs to move on, instead of just maintaning course.

I think it has to do more with Cus D'amato dying to early and not completing Mike, as he was able to do with Floyd Patterson and Jose Torres.

It seemed every time Mike was moving forward he took a shot: His mother, Cus, then Jacobs.

Of course, other people have dealt with the same thing, maybe not at the level of exposure he had to, but it does at least serve as a possible reason.

I also wonder if it wasn't "Team Tyson's" fault: Did the train Mike to think as a fighter or did they just make him into a high-powered auto response machine?
Rooney said the commands, 5,7,9, and Mike did it. Although, if you notice it looks like Mike by the time he became champion did not need to rely on Rooney as much, but of course, he went downhill from poor training habits when he left Rooney.

I would just like to know if they ever taught Mike how to think up a strategy on his own. For example, instead of telling him this is how you beat this guy, ask him, how and what would you do to beat this guy.

It might have been that "Team Tyson" thought there was not enough time at that point to teach him everything, so they knew as long as someone like Rooney was around him to feed him the commands Mike would be OK.

Even smart people, especially "Savants" have their faults that can prevent them from reaching their potential. It takes a great teacher, time, and stimulation of the brain in certain areas.

Not saying Mike was a savant, but what I am saying is he may have been untrained and underdeveloped in such areas, but if he had the proper schooling he may have been even better all around.

It is not like he comes from dumb stock, I hear his older brother is very smart.

yes, true, but look through history and look at the person and you might see why.

Many men, even "genius" level men have been taken advantage throughout the course of history, and by lesser men and women.

Women hold a power over even the brightest, we call this *****.

Tyson was also said to be a nice person, very giving, despite the other side of ruthless behavior. This is the same person that seemingly wants to be loved and may hate what he has done in the past so he gives his money away to strangers.

And he didn't lose everything, his kids are still set with millions.

I think he was way too emotional. He seemed to think really deep about everything. The look he has on his face after the Buster Douglas fight is about the most dissapointed you will ever see anybody. Also, Don King basically tried to take advantage of him and created the loud-mouth jerk that we knew in the latter stages of his career.

In the late 1980's.....IRON MIKE TYSON was invincible....UNSTOPABLE! Too quick, too strong for anybody. Yeah, that includes ALL those that got a "W" off the '90's Tyson.
