Then your welcome to your opinion, because i cant see ANY kind of Boxing Logic to give Hatton an Even chance against mayweather, that is not the case, this fight is not an even fight, mayweather can win the fight multiple ways, hatton has one way, that in itself tells you he doesnt have an even chance.
why do you lot all give hatton stick?

Welcome to boxingscene, mate!Been reading this forum now for a few weeks and am shocked at the stick a lot of peeps give Ricky Hatton. I won't comment on Rickys ability as I am a manchester lad whos a big fan of his so I am bound to be a bit biased.
But what i will not accept is the fact that peeps have called hatton a ducker for only offering 5 million to fight mayweather and it being in england
Good post and good question. The reason for the enormous amount of negativity and unfair criticism toward Hatton is a kind of racist jealousy that a white English boxer has done so well - 43-0, 31 KO, Ring Champ at light welterweight. If he was black he would be more respected, like Lewis was.
100 years ago it was the opposite - it was Jack Johnson facing a lot of negativity and unfair criticism, but the world has changed a lot since then.Last edited by Steelhammer86; 06-30-2007, 10:03 AM.Comment

Nothing to do with Race, Hatton is a class fighter, but the following still stands, and the above post is proof of this.
Welcome, to boxing scene.
The reality is that ricky hatton fans on this forum are VERY sensitive, if you say anything other than hatton is the best fighter in the world and he is amazing, you are liable to be called a 'hater' by some, its rediculous,
What people dont like about these Die Hard Hatton fans is their inablility to grasp any sort of boxing logic,
Especially in regard to the fight with mayweather,
NO Boxing logic would ever suggest Hatton will KO mayweather, it may happen but no one who has watched the two fight could ever make a technical case for that happening.
And yet SOME (not all) of his fans cling to this hope that the boxing gods will give hatton his dues and he will perform a minor miracle,
Ask ANY hatton fans how hatton beats myaweather, its the same old line
"He will go the the body and stop him"
Zero Boxing Logic, that could happen
But mayweather has had bigger and better guys try the same tactic his whole career and he despatches them, so why would hatton be any different, especially with his poor defense, he cant block basic leads, and no one who cant block a urango right hand should be made favorite over mayweather.
Ricky hatton was OUTSTANDING against castillo, that was the proper ricky, castillo was shot, but ricky hatton did what he had to do, and landed some excellent body head combos, and those people who said the fight was fixed are clinging to straws.
But LOGICALLY he doesnt beat mayweather, maybe miracles do happen,
But his Hatton's fans dont seem to use any kind of technical boxing fact when picking this guy, ive seen his fans say the following
1)That he could KO mayweather
2) That he could beat De La Hoya
3) That He is deserves the bigger share of the money if he fought mayweather
4) That Mayweather doesnt want to fight him, when it is common knowledge hatton turned mayweather down.
Personally i like hatton as fighter (without the huggin) and he is a great guy outside the ring and is a bit of a joker,
But what we need from more Hatton fans is some proper boxing perspective, and not saying ****** based on nationalism. eg, because Hatton is british.
And also stop whinning about how the americans are out to discredit him, i'm a brit and its not the only reason why Hatton gets stick here.Comment

Well said
I couldn't agree more.Oh please, Who hits harder, De La Hoya or Ricky Hatton?
De La Hoya was fighting tactics 'alien' to him? No, De La Hoya fought the best anyone has against floyd, and put on a great show of defence and boxing skill, in the end the better boxer won the fight simple as that.
How many time before Hatton fans understand, LOGICALLY, he only has ONE way to beat mayweather, come forward and hope he doesnt take too many bad shots, and that way totally plays into mayweather's tactics,
Hatton has difficulties blocking basic leads, is known to struggle with Slick fighters, has been hurt by not very big punchers, has been known to gas out when during the later rounds.
Why would anyone LOGICALLY pick him over a fighter like mayweather, one of the slickest fighters ever seen in a ring, who fights at a severe pace, espeically when a better boxer who was two weight classes above hatton couldnt make a serious impression on mayweather?
Hatton could win, but it would be a shock, a near miracle, and anyone who thinks he has more than a 50% chance is just kidding themselves.
Yes, Ricky, like any other opponent has a good chance to beat Mayweather,
but How do you beat someone as good as Floyd who never lost a fight?
I could see Floyd losing if he had an off night, which is not likely to happen because of his pride.
Ricky may need to change his fighting style completely, get a whole new training team, and bring his lucky charms and green clovers to improve his odds of winning.
Even so, a smart, conditioned boxer like Mayweather can adjust to any level of fighter which makes him all the more difficult to beat.
Hell, even a leprechaun wouldn't bet on this fight.

This was a terrible post....you are making too much sense.Which is something you cannot do when you talk to Hatton fans.Welcome, to boxing scene.
No hatton is NOT the biggest fight mayweather can get right now imo. Mosley and Cotto in a few months could be bigger.

How do you beat someone as good as PBF who has never lost a fight? I dont know how you beat him.
Can you tell me how you beat someone as decent as Hatton who has never lost a fight?
Yes PBF starts favourite but bigger underdogs than Hatton have won before, so this talk that PBF cant lose is a bit over the top.Comment

I think you guys need to allow the good debate to continue rather than make statements such as
"Anyone who picks Ricky to beat PBF is using NO LOGIC".
Why not read each others' comments and learn from them where appropriate. here's something that I would add. Yes DLH hits harder than Hatton (not by a huge amount though) and yes he is a bit bigger - However Hatton specialises in bulying opponents with his stature and tactics. He would be a nightmare on the inside for anyone at 135-147.
And let us not forget, the fight with DLH was close, one judge even scoring it for the 8 round fighter (even though I believe PBF won clearly). But rubbishing talk of Hatton beating PBF is immature and ignorant. Disagree and argue, but ultimately you're all going to have to accept that people can look at a situation and perceive two different realities, you can't always 'prove' which one is correct.Comment

I avoid the more slanted threads and outside of those I haven't seen many people posting about Hatton being the best ever or anysuch thing.
I am the first person to discuss my dislike of Floyd as a person and my converse liking of Hatton.
That being said, Floyd IS the superior fighter.
I think Hatton's best chance IS the body shotting but not so much as to put Floyd down. Floyd is too ring smart. However it can slow him down and make him less willing to trade. Make no mistake, Floyd will open the fight trying to trade. He knows Hatton is small but tough and he will try to treat him like he did Gatti.
Hatton will at best hurt and discourage Floyd from running away with the fight in that way. However, Floyd will then go on his bicycle and pot shot as he has in his last few fights. Floyd will then win on points.
Hatton's going to have to be very lucky to win this but it will not be the landslide that many are predicting. Hatton's tough and he'll make Floyd pay or he'll make Floyd go back to pot-shotting from afar.
Hatton's good. I don't think he'll be good enough.
They both need this fight though. I suspect Floyd does more than Hatton. Floyd's career as it stands is VERY contentious. He has not, nor ever will live up to his claims of being the best of all time.
Hatton has done well for a limited brawler. He's not claimed to be more than he is and that leaves him with less to prove.Comment
