    My time with the LIMEY'S!

I got a chance to really talk a lot of non stop boxing with the British contingent at the Hatton vs. Castillo fight this past saturday and I was trying to pick there brain at every turn.

First off let me say Im absolutely in awe of their love for Hatton, there may not be anything like it in the world of sports, seriously.

Anyoways here are some of the impressions this Fat Yank got from the Green Teetthed Limey's.

    Topics...

    Joe Calzaghe-
I didnt expect the Brits to have as much love for him as they do, I had many conversations where Joe's name was brought up without me even saying it. I would say that he is in tough against Kessler and they said whos Kessler and would throw Jeff Lacy in my face even though Im a Calzaghe guy. again just surpised how much his name came up-they like this dude alot...am I wrong?

    Amir Kahn-
This was a name that I brought up to several smelly limeys and all of them expressed a huge interest in his talent but my questions did not relate to his talent, I point blank asked many the same question...If Kahn became an elite fighter, even quite possibly the best i the world do you think you and your fellow countryman would travel overseas to watch him the same way you do with Ricky? EVERYTIME I got an emphatic NO. everytime...this surpised me but also how special they think Ricky is-and when I say special it goes beyond being a fighter I believe.

    Floyd Mayweather-
Here is where the often loud an opinionated Limeys got a little nervous. I think they believe their boy would give Hatton a good fight and certainly give his all but everytime I put the question to them about the potential mega fight they would get somewhat quiet...the clear consensus among the diehards of the Hatton clan is that this is a fight they want but it is also a fight they expect to lose.

    Ricky Hatton-
I heard the same things over and over, he's one of us, he's one of us and he always will be. I spoke with an older couple and this lady was describing her 11 hour plain ride etc. and she was so passionate and genuine in everyting she was saying...she looked at me after making her case and said "Ricky is everything to us" I believed her and the rest of her country.

This Fat Yank had a helluva time and the next time Ricky fights in Vegas I will do everything in my power to make sure Im in attendance if not for the actual quality of the fight then for the one of a kind British Fans.

Hats of to you you limeys ****heads, Im in awe!

Yea we get really behind are sportsmen, i think we like the pain of it lol, England football team has unreal support but we never do anything, Rugby was a nice change winning the world cup, Cricket, Tennis well..... Hatton attracts the fans because hes like a typical football fan supports his club and has a drink down the pub with the lads. Football teams in england have incredible support, 40,000 went to see Liverpool in Greece recently.

Most of the hatton fans who went to vegas, support hatton and not boxing. They were mostly football fans, doesn't bother me though the more the merrier.

all i know is when i was at the hatton-urango fight the crowd was live. way live, they made it a great atmosphere like it was the biggest fight of the decade. after going to that fight i said that i would go to every hatton fight if he were in town. sad to say i didn't make it out to the hatton-castillo fight because i had other obligations, which weren't worth it, i should've gone to the fight.

but i will give the limey bar stewards one thing, they create a great fight atmosphere, and make it a good time out. only thing i didn't like was the dude that was so drunk he couldn't speak without screaming and spitting all over the place. i'll just keep my distance next time. ooh and the guy that wanted to try and push my buttons by bumping into me, just trying to get me into an altercation, i just spilled my beer in his seat right before he sat down and he took off to clean up and i never saw him again, haha sucka, but other than that, it's a great crowd.

Yeah Ricky has something that transcends being a pugilist. People like him, he's nice. The last time a boxer was this much of a household name in Britain it was Frank Bruno. Finally we have a household name who everyone likes and who isn't ****!

yeah dude was all buttered up, red face, damn near piss yellow eyes, i bet he linked up with someone the first day he came into town and got hooked up on some coke. he probably hadn't slept up to that point.

it's crazy when people come to vegas, they pull out all the stops and do the most craziest **** ever, all the time.

when i worked on the strip bartending, i saw and experienced more **** in 7 years then most have in their lives, it's truly amazing how people act when they get into vegas.

i should write a damn book.................
