I can see the most of you didnt read my thread because I didnt mean for them to fight in Grand Rapids literaly. My point was to say that would be like Floyd fighting in England but it wouldnt even be close to that. Im not ******, I dont want the fight in GR, trust me

Apparently people are not reading the entire post. He was using a comparison and his post was not advocating fighting in Detroit. He was using it to make a point and a very objective one at that.

His point is a state, a few people versus a whole country. It's a very understandable and reasonable point and I am not too sure anyone could soundly argue against it. It's the truth. Long, but the truth none the less.

          Good post.

DLT, you're really showing off your ignorance about Britan here. You can't use Mexico and PR as examples that are supposed to be the same as Britain. First of all PR is American. Second, Britain is as much a melting pot as the US. There are people from all over the world living in Britain. In fact, it seems even more prevalent in London than it does in New York (coming from someone who's lived in NY, and been to London numerous times). Britain is more like USA than probably any other country in the world, when it comes to different people living there.

Aside from that, the mere fact that more and more mega fights are being proposed to take place in other parts of the world than the US, tells a big story. The balance of power in boxing is shifting away from the US, and more into a global sport. If Floyd and Hatton fight each other, people will watch it on TV regardless of where the fight takes place. But the live gate draw is not in Michigan, it's in England. Floyd absolutely can't draw 50.000 people to any venue in the world. Hatton can. So from a business point of view (professional boxing is more business than sport, you might remember), the fight makes more sense in Manchester UK, than Grand Rapids, Michigan.
              End of story.
