Almost every sports fan in Britain know the name Oscar De La Hoya. They know him as that boxer, the famous one, not Tyson but the smaller guy.

I'm from England you know, I'm not just makin' this up. De La Hoya is far better known in Britain than Mayweather, but Hatton is a household name nowadays.

He is better known than PBF but he's still nowhere near as well known as say Tyson, Holyfield or Bowe. He's definitely not a big name in the UK.

Not as big as Tyson, granted, maybe he's less well known than Holyfield, who is principally known for haveing only one ear, but Bowe is certainly not known at all outside of boxing purists.

The Lennox Lewis thing got Bowe pretty well known over here. That and his fights with Holyfield.

I don't know any sports fan outside of hardcore, die-hard boxing fans who has ever heard of Oscar De La Hoya. Sorry

Lennox Lewis is well known but his opponents (other than Tyson, Holyfield and Bruno) are not.

I did a question on a non-boxing message board based in Britain and in ten minutes got four replies. one "no idea", two "is he a boxer?" and one "I think he's a boxer, is he really small or something?". That wasn't even a sport forum.
