Byrd vs Brock in IBF eliminator, Wlad or Brewster must fight the winner

I now have lost all respect for the IBF. Wlad/Brewster will have to give up his IBF title to fight a unification with the winner of Chagaev/ Ibragimov...

Besides Wlad's already beaten them both!

Canada, are you sure this news is credible? I mean, what has either fighter done to earn a title eliminator shot? And do you think Byrd, if he wins, wants to get pummeled again by Klitschko?...

Byrd is a really really balsy guy. Because of his style of boxing and his demeanor, people don't realise that Byrd is one of the toughest and bravest in the sport. In short, Byrd would be willing to fight Klitschko again I'll bet. He would get completely slaughtere again, but he would fight him. For the record I do see Chris Byrd probably pulling out the win against Calvin Brock in a boring fight.

I seriously hope this is a rumor. Either fighter will get knocked the hell out by Wlad or Brewster. Why don't the sanctioning bodies do what say they would and do unification fights.

The only bright side of this situation is, if the Byrd-Brock fight happens by August/early Sept, the Wlad-Brewster winner can still fight the winner by Nov/Dec and then be ready to face the winner of Ibragimov-Chagaev by spring 2008.

Spring 2008 is also around the time Vitali would fight the Maskaev-Peter winner, so this news actually may not delay a fully-unified champion after all, believe it or not. The winner of the Vitali-Peter/Maskaev fight would then be ready to fight for the other three belts by late summer/early fall 2008 (unless of course it's Vitali with the WBC and Wlad with the other three, then we'll have complete Klitschko unification).

It was going to take over a year to happen regardless, but if the cards all fall right, it can still get done relatively quickly.

Why do this, a waste of time, lets unify the division. Is Wlad camp afraid of fights the current best?

I agree with all of that.

                    Why?

Because it will be a mandatory fight.
