This matchup could be like Duran and Leanourds first fight with Hatton playing Duran.
but Hatton wont give PBF a rematch
But this fight could be compared to Lloyd Honeyghan and Don Curry with Hatton playing the ragamuffin.Comment

Honestly that's the way I see it playing out too because I think mayweather just has too much speed and defense for Hatton to handle. However Hatton cuts off the ring very well and crowds his opponets so I think that's what makes this such an interesting prospect.
Still I give Hatton a chance to win based on his moderate speed, great head movement and hard punching style. Even with that, the fight is not as close a match up as most think, I got Mayweather winning by split decision. (One judge always votes against him anyway, and with the largely pro-Hatton crowd, judges tend to sway their votes towards the more popular fighter)Comment

I would prefer to put Cotto's name in place of Hatton'sBefore anybody jumps the gun and thinks I'm comparing either Mayweather to Leonard or Hatton to Hagler, I'm not. I'm simply stating that their styles match up well with their legendary counterparts, and that a clash between Mayweather and Hatton could be as eagerly anticipated in this generation as the clash of Leonard and Hagler were.
Also, you have to note the striking similarities between how Mayweather and Hatton interact when talking about one another. Very similar to the way Leonard interacted with Hagler. Also take note of Floyd's "retirement" while he's still in the prime of his career, very similar to Leonards. Mayweather, the flashy technical fighter, Hatton the smothering brawler.
Anticipation for Mayweather/Hatton has been on the rise ever since Hatton beat Tsyzu in 2005, now with Floyd's "retirement" talks are at an all time high, combined with Hatton looking spectactular against Castillo.
This fight will happen, probably this fall if not, by March of next year. Mark my words. Floyd's "retirement" wil only last as long as his money does, and with the way he spends it, that won't be very long at all. He's just waiting for the anticipation for the fight to become so high that he can get the exact deal that suits his needs.
Otherwise I was thinking the very same thing....
However Floyd hasn't said a PEEP about Cotto..

Long time no see man, how are things going for you these days?
For the record, I think Cotto has the best chance to beat Mayweather out of any and all possible opponets. I doubt Floyd will fight him though because Cotto has a habit of wrecking his opponets faces and then Floyd couldn't brag about how pretty he is anymore. Nobody with a plate in their face is pretty, ask Malignaggi, lol.Comment

Why don't you take your ****** ass back up to the top of the page and re-read the first sentence of the original post. I'm talking anticipation here, not a direct comparison of legendary fighters from legendary eras compared to their modern day counterparts.Comment
