i think most hatton fans would agree mayweather is the superior boxer, but i cant think of anyone that can match him for sheer talent...but hatton can be underestimated technically, it wouldnt be boxer versus brawler, id definately pick mayweather to win that, id kind of see hatton boxing a bit like DLH did...

Ricky Hatton is the only active fighter who has a defense as good as Mayweather. The thing is, what he does IS NOT legal. lol. It is a good defense no kidding really, he doesn't get hit alot. But makes for horrible shows and anyone who says the castillo fight was a good show was high imo. Mayweather would beat all fighters in WW and up to 147 today, in his prime. To beat Mayweather they would have to bring another Roy Jones or something even then it's not sure. Sluggers can't do much although Ricky's style has a very good defense, only illegal and won't happen to often if he keeps fighting in the US.
Hey how about a little k1 rules in? Like yellow card (10% purse OFF) for "no action"/holding penalities" (and i don't mean the stick and move thing)
Hatton has power and fast hands. It's a shame he does what he does.. He never been tested to the limit (always had his opponents tailor-made for him) so we can't really say he's bad. Maybe a Cotto Hatton? Should already have happened (no Zab, no Castillo). Notice good fighters only fight good figthers when they are done with the sport (can risk losing/want last big paycheck) which is a shame. Only happens in boxing and it sucks. We never get the fights we wanna see cept for once a year or so... This year i like the Hoya Mayweather fight, was balanced. Oscar was older 4 years but he was fighting an opponent new to the division and had gloves/ring made for an inside fighting. Although it could have happened sooner (Oscar shouldnt have retired at all in 03 i think). Cotto Judah was clearly a fight for Cotto. Hatton Castillo was even worse of a matchup and the Kitschko - Brewster is clearly a fight for Klitschko, although the revenge factor weights here and maybe this is worth seeing. I wish boxing were about the championship and all the money were around the belts. This would end corruption. No give away titles to "interins" N'dous and other shot fighters so Cottos and Hattons can easly be "champions" and sell bigger. WTF?Comment

You can't really argue a lack of action, it's not like Hatton holds and rests, he works in the clinch, he throws punches and he moves.Comment

Nothing PROVES that Mayweather is better than Hatton. PBF's accomplishments demonstrate that he has had a better career than Hatton SO FAR. The only thing that proves that HE himself, personally IS better than Hatton is beating him in the ring. Which he hasnt done yet, thus...no proof either way.Comment

man this is a dumb ass thread. its too many of these. i have mayweather beating hatton by wide ud. hatton defense style? what defense style. he wont catch mayweather to hold him all damn night. that **** will not happen. furthermore mayweather see this dude hold and will definitely make contractual stipulations to prevent this ***** from holding him. that is not fighting. *****s talk about floyds style. this is worse. floyd may evade and move to keep from being hit and he may even not be aggressive but he will not get his ass beat by hatton. his pride wont let him if anything. but dude has skills. we will all seeComment
