  • Mogens Palle talks about the Kessler-Calzaghe negotiations.

    Translated from: http://www.bt.dk/article/20070624/SP...1/1126/SPORT08

Mogen Palle, the Danish promoter, confirms they are only a signature away from the dream fight: Kessler vs. Calzaghe.

"The negotiations are well underway, they (Warren) has met all our demands, and only a few details needs to be arranged."

"Warren has received a draft, and now its being negotiated point for point. The details left can’t get in the way of anything."

One of the details that still need to be sorted is the location, both Denmark and the UK is an option, but the Danish manager doesn’t believe it will be fought on Danish soil.

"If Warren stands behind his words, I'd say there is a 95% chance of it happening, and I believe it will be in the UK"

Good news, although sketchy on detail as usual. it makes more sense in the UK moneywise you'd have thought. They'd get $5m on the gate I'd have thought plus decent TV money.

Yes, looks like it will happen in the UK.

Palle paid more money than he earned to get Beyer to fight in Denmark, and ended up loosing money last year. Kessler never had a decent payday, and giving Calzaghe 5 mill, would have made yet another bad year for him.

I think Kessler is the guy who finally made this happen. He came out very unhappy with Palle in the Danish media for not taking the money.

I wonder how Palle will deal with the Americans, should he get an offer from a big name in the future. I know he holds the US market in higher regards than UK, but if he still wants to make the fights in Denmark, he needs to go.
The only decent thing to do as Kessler's promoter is to go for the money and the exposure.

The fact that "95% made" came from the mouth of the biggest Warren hater in the universe, makes me a believer.
First time in three years Palle talks about Warren, without insulting him..

If this fight happens it would have to be UK, neither guys are a big draw in the US (which is unfortunate) so the money and exposure would come from the UK.

Not sure where though, Hatton could probably fill half of the new Wembley, not sure about Calzaghe?

I don't care whether it's the UK or Denmark, just wanna see Joe beat down another supposed heir to his throne.

how id love warren and hobson to do a co-promotion on calzaghe/kessler and hattons homecoming at the new wembley that would guarantee a sell out. put woods on the undercard (exposure for a fight between him and calzaghe) also have amir khan on there and thats the stuff of ************ lol.
but neways this is great news and only goes to show palle had as much to do with the fight not getting signed sooner on insisting the fight in denmark , i always knew he never had the bank balance to get calzaghe to denmark

Well this time will be different. Joes not fighting a guy thats 26-3, 20-1, 24-0, 23-3...but a guy thats 39-0-29 that can actually fight.
